Lindsey Erin Pearlman, the famed General Hospital actress, was found dead on Friday after she had been reported missing for several days. The popular TV actress was 43 at the time of her passing, and this tragedy has understandably hit her family friends and colleagues hard. According to a statement posted on the LAPD website, “Hollywood Area officers responded to a radio call for a death investigation at Franklin Avenue and North Sierra Bonita Avenue… The L.A. County Coroner’s Office has since confirmed the individual to be Lindsey Erin Pearlman.”
The cause and circumstances of her passing are unclear. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office has completed an autopsy, but the cause and manner of Pearlman’s passing can’t be revealed as the case has been deferred, pending further investigation. Pearlman had disappeared on Feb. 13, and fans may recall seeing tweets by her cousin Savannah Pearlman asking help from people to locate her.

“LA people, my cousin - Lindsey Pearlman - is missing. Her phone last pinged on Sunset blvd. My uncle is offering a reward that leads to finding her, please keep your eyes open. #MissingPerson #LA (sic).” According to ABC 7 reports, investigators had also sought the public’s help in finding Lindsey after she went missing," Pearlman wrote.
After her body was found on Friday, Pearlman’s husband Vance Smith shared the tragedy on Instagram on a heartbreaking note.
Pearlman’s cousin Savannah also posted an update after the discovery. She said, “Please know that you are never truly alone. Lindsey’s sister has asked that we share the National Suicide Hotline: 1-800-273-8255. Thank you.”
The police found Lindsey… She’s gone. I’m broken. I will share more later, but I wanted to thank you to everyone for their love and efforts and ask you to respect the privacy of her family at this time (sic).
Lindsey Pearlman: An Abruptly Ended Career
Pearlman grew up in Chicago and studied comedy at The Second City Conservatory. Subsequently, she started participating in area theater productions, before stepping into the TV industry. Her notable Chicago stage appearances include The Mousetrap at Northlight Theatre, Trevor at A Red Orchid Theatre, and Polarity Theatre Ensemble’s Never the Bridesmaid, for which she received the Joseph Jefferson Citation for Actress in a Principal Role. She also performed the Catharsis Productions’ internationally touring show Sex Signals, which uses comedy to broach the difficult topic of sexual assault awareness at military bases and college campuses.
In 2017, she booked a recurring role on the NBC crime drama Chicago Justice as the pathologist Dr. Joy Fletcher. The noted theater actress has also appeared on episodes of Empire, Sneaky Pete, American Housewife, The Purge and Selena: The Series. More recently, she appeared as a recurring role on General Hospital.
The actress’ agent has told E! News that they are “deeply saddened by Lindsey Pearlman’s passing,” and added that the family requests privacy as they grieve the late actress.
