Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, has sadly died at the age of 54. The singer was reported to have been rushed to hospital earlier today after suffering what was believed to be a cardiac arrest. At the time, TMZ reported that EMTs had been called to her home, where her ex-husband had reportedly performed CPR until paramedics were able to take over. Following her transfer to hospital, there had been no comment made by the star’s representatives. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, arrived shortly after and has now released a statement announcing the passing of her daughter. The statement read:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

The death of Lisa Marie Presley comes just two days after she attended The Golden Globes Awards ceremony with her mother, to see Austin Butler win a Best Actor award for his portrayal of her late father. She praised the performance of Butler, saying, “I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it. I had to take, like, five days to process it because it was so incredible and so spot on and just so authentic.”

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”

Lisa Marie Presley Overcame Many Struggles In Her Life

Lisa Marie Presley was only 9 years old when her father died of a cardiac arrest. Just a few years later, Lisa Marie became the sole heir to the estate of Elvis following the deaths of her grandfather and great-grandmother. In 2005, she sold off a large majority of the Presley Estate’s business shares, but continued to maintain control of Elvis’ home of Graceland.

During her life she was married multiple times, with high profile relationships with Michal Jackson, Nicolas Cage, Danny Keough and Michael Lockwood. Although the star did have success in her life, and the fortune of her late father to contend with, she also had a fair share of tough times and tragedy to overcome. As well as openly battling an opioid addiction back in 2008, more recently Lisa Marie had to face the death of her son Benjamin Keough, who committed suicide at the age of 27 in 2020.

In her own career as a singer-songwriter, Lisa Marie released three studio albums, and also oversaw Elvis Presley Enterprises as one of the company executives. She was still in that position at the time of her death, and was seen outside Graceland earlier this month as she celebrated what would have been her father’s 88th birthday.

Having recently seen her father’s life playing on the big screen in the form of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, the passing of Lisa Marie Presley was not something anyone expected to hear today. She is survived by her daughters Riley, Harper and Finley; and mother Priscilla, and our thoughts are with them at this time.
