The cast of Littlemouth, a sci-fi mystery, has been announced. Isabelle Fuhrman and Dennis Quaid will play the leading roles, joined by David Thewlis, Josh Hutcherson, and Kiera Allen. Jonathan Sobol both wrote and directed the movie. Nicholas Tabarrok is producing alongside William G. Santor and Doug Murray, the latter of whom work for Productivity Media. Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films will handle the international distributing rights.

Fuhrman has most recently appeared in the Shudder original film The Last Thing Mary Saw. Her breakout role was in the psychological horror film Orphan, which she’ll reprise in the upcoming prequel Orphan: First Kill. Littlemouth will be the first time she’ll work alongside Hutcherson since the first Hunger Games movie.

Quaid’s recent film credits include American Underdog, Midway, and A Dog’s Journey, alongside such series as Prime’s Goliath and Netflix’s Merry Happy Whatever. Among other things, he’ll also soon appear inJeff Celentano’s baseball drama The Hill, Disney animated film Stange World, and two Sam McNamara dramas, which are Reagan and On a Wing and a Prayer.

Thewlis has made appearances in both the Harry Potter and DC Extended Universe franchises. Besides that, he also appeared in season 3 of the FX anthology show Fargo and on the Netflix Original animated series Big Mouth. Some of his upcoming films will be Enola Holmes 2 and Avatar 3.

Hutcherson is best known for appearing in all four Hunger Games films. He’s also been in such movies as The Disaster Artist, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Kicking & Screaming, and The Kids Are All Right. In the lead role, Hutcherson also recently starred in the Hulu series Future Man. An upcoming film of his is the sci-fi thriller 57 Seconds with Morgan Freeman.

Allen is best known for starring in the Hulu thriller Run alongside Sarah Paulson, which was also her feature film debut. According to IMDb, she became the first real-life wheelchair user to star in a major thriller in 73 years, since Susan Peters in The Sign of the Ram. Allen has also appeared on an episode of The Good Doctor.

“This is a story I am passionate about telling and I’m thrilled and humbled with the cast that has come together to bring it to life. With Isabelle Fuhrman in the lead, working with an icon like Dennis Quaid and the incomparable David Thewlis (one of my all-time favorite actors), to younger stars like Josh and Keira – I simply couldn’t have asked for a better group of artists to work with,” said Sobol during an interview, courtesy of Deadline.

The film’s plot will follow a brilliant computer scientist (Fuhrman) who is recruited by a charismatic tech billionaire (Quaid) to work on a secret project that might, in fact, change humanity’s place in the universe. Of course, the opportunity comes at great risk. It is currently not known who Thewlis, Hutcherson, and Allen will play.

“When I read Jonathan’s original screenplay, I was so taken by the creative spin that he had taken on the sci-fi genre. His script makes the reader think about decisions made by scientists and how they affect the world around us and beyond. He is the only filmmaker that could direct his script into a film that genre fans will love,” said Santor.
