Spoiler Warning: Love, Victor Seasons 1-2

Love, Ferris wheels, and Swedish Fish return to our screens this summer with the final season of Love, Victor. A spin-off of Love, Simon, the original Hulu series follows Victor (Michael Cimino) on his journey of realizing his sexuality and coming out to his friends and family. The first two seasons saw him work through his emotions, find himself, and fall in love, with several missteps along the way. The show also follows other teens going through their own romantic journeys and difficult family situations.

The series was created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who wrote the screenplay for Love, Simon. The two have worked together on How I Met Your Father, This Is Us, and are currently working on the film adaptation of John Green’s book Turtles All the Way Down. Nick Robinson, the star of the original film, serves as a producer.

Love, Victor Season 3: The Plot

     Hulu

Everyone is coupled up, it seems, in the new season of Love, Victor, but it may not be that way for long. Victor and Benji (George Sear) seem to be in a good place, though there is still lingering hostility on Benji’s side, mostly aimed at Rahim. It appears as though Benji is going to be leaving for a bit, which may put his and Victor’s relationship in a difficult spot. Felix and Victor’s sister Pilar are being open about their relationship, despite Felix’s pretty recent break up with Lake. But, Lake is also in a new relationship with season 2 cater waiter Lucy. Of course, that leaves Andrew and Mia, who are still together despite everything they went through last season. It isn’t clear if they made it to Mia’s mother, which was where they were headed at the end of the previous season.

After some time apart, Victor’s parents, Isabel and Armando, seem to rekindle their relationship at the end of season 2. It isn’t clear where they’ll stand going into the final season, but hopefully, they will reunite. Unfortunately, it seems like things won’t end well for everyone. Felix doesn’t like lying to Pilar and Victor’s parents about his relationship with her, which looks like it will cause some animosity. It also seems like there may still be some lingering feelings between him and Lake. In the trailer, Victor references people telling him to move on, making it look like he and Benji split. Will they be together by the end of the series, despite the new blonde boy Nick (Nico Greetham)?

Finally, there’s Simon. Victor has been communicating with Simon throughout the series, getting help on his coming out and navigating his life after he comes out. Season 2 ended with Victor telling him he didn’t need Simon’s advice anymore, that he had found it from his friends and family since coming out. Simon has always been a part of the show as a voiceover character, appearing physically in both season finales. Will that continue now, with Victor not looking to him for guidance anymore? It isn’t clear.

Love, Victor Season 3: The Cast

Michael Cimino returns as the titular character Victor Salazar, the namesake of the show. While audiences wait for Cimino to return as the gay teen, they can watch him in Netflix’s Senior Year. It’s expected that Victor’s family members will return, with Mateo Fernandez as Adrian, James Martinez (House of Cards) as Armando, and Ana Ortiz (Devious Maids, Ugly Betty) as Isabel. Isabella Ferreira returns as Victor’s sister Pilar and Anthony Turpel continues in his role as Felix, Victor’s best friend. It is undetermined if Nick Robinson (Jurassic World, Maid) will return as Simon Spier.

Other young cast members returning are Bebe Wood as Lake, Rachel Hilson (This Is Us, American Horror Story: Double Feature) as Mia, Mason Gooding (Moonshot) as Andrew, George Sear as Benji, Anthony Keyvan as Rahim, and Ava Capri as Lucy. Nico Greetham joins the cast as teen Nick, potentially a new love interest for Victor. The adult cast will likely be rounded out by Kevin Rahm as Benji’s father, Embeth Davidtz as Benji’s mother, Andy Richter as the school’s basketball coach, Leslie Grossman as Lake’s mother, Beth Littleford as Sarah, the coffeehouse manager, Mekhi Phifer as Mia’s father, Sophia Bush as Mia’s stepmother, and Betsy Brandt as Felix’s mother.

Release Date

The final season, consisting of eight episodes, will hit both Hulu and Disney+ on June 15, 2022.

Love, Victor Season 3: Everything Else We Know

Love, Victor is a spin-off series from the movie Love, Simon, which is based on the book Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. The film and show are connected because they take place at the same school, and Simon, the main character of the film, remains a character in the series, though Victor and his friends are not present in the book. The series maintains the same themes as both the film and novel, following a young man on his path to understanding himself and his sexuality and everything that comes with that.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda isn’t the only book in the series. Leah On the Offbeat follows Leah, one of Simon’s friends, on her own coming out just before graduation. While it is unlikely a series or film will be developed based on the sequel at this point, it does pave the way for additional spin-offs in the universe. Maybe instead of taking place at the same high school, it is at a different one, showing how the story of Simon has spread in the city and helped other students, or it follows a pansexual student. There are endless possibilities.

There’s still time to gather an ample supply of Swedish Fish and decide which couples you think are endgame while you wait for Love, Victor’s final season.
