While Gal Gadot has made an impact in the DCEU as Wonder Woman, for older fans, the real on-screen iteration of Diana Prince will always be Lynda Carter. After playing the iconic superhero between 1975 to 1979, Carter’s depiction of the character is still used as the most recognizable version of Wonder Woman in her red and gold top and white shorts, but with a new Wonder Woman on the block, Carter has been describing how she felt seeing her role being played by someone else for the first time.

Although there are a lot of differences between the two iterations of the character, Gal Gadot has previously made it clear that Carter’s Wonder Woman was a huge influence on her, and it seems that Carter has nothing but good things to say about the current Wonder Woman franchise and is happy to be a part of it in any way she can be.

“Oh, I was thrilled, I was standing, I was applauding, I was crying, I was laughing. I was holding the hand of my daughter and husband. It was strange to see another woman taking that mantle.”

Wonder Woman 3 Will See Lynda Carter in a Significant Role

Warner Bros. was surprisingly reserved at their live-action San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday, focusing only on the upcoming Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods and choosing to ignore Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Flash, Blue Beetle and Batgirl. As far as Wonder Woman 3 is concerned, Warner Bros. doesn’t seem to be in much of a rush to progress it currently, so the lack of details about the movie is not too surprising.

“First of all, Lynda has mentored me from the very first moment that I got cast as Wonder Woman. She was always there, talking to me, giving me tips and everything. She’s a true champion of what Patty and I have been doing, and it was so great that we managed to find the right opportunity to bring her to the last movie and now to the third one. It’s even better this time. I love her very much. I love her dearly.”
