When Macaulay Culkin protected his house from burglars in Home Alone, a lightsaber was probably one of the few things the creative Kevin McCallister didn’t have to hand. However, the actor has made up for that by having a mock duel with real-life partner Brenda Song in a new Star Wars-themed social media ad. In the short video posted online, the pair are seen having their sleep disturbed by their crying baby. As they argue over who should go to put the baby back to sleep, their resolution is a game of rock, paper, scissors, lightsaber. Check it out below.

Macaulay Culkin shot to fame as a child in movies like Uncle Buck and Home Alone. However, the actor dropped out of acting in 1994, citing the need for a “normal life.” Despite that, Culkin began making guest appearances in shows like Will & Grace a decade later and provided voice-overs for Seth Green’s Robot Chicken. Recently, the actor has had something of a resurgence following a number of years working on advertisements and indie projects. He appeared in American Horror Story: Double Feature.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

His presence on social media was felt back in August 2020 when he shared a post celebrating his 40th birthday, which he used to make many people feel very old. It became the ninth most-liked post ever on the platform. He wrote in the post, “Hey guys, wanna feel old? I’m 40. You’re welcome.” The comment was about how many years it has been since he played the iconic role of Kevin McCallister in Home Alone, a role he reprised two years earlier for a Google Assistant ad.

Macaulay Culkin is Making A Documentary About Reaching Middle Age

As an actor best known for playing a child, Macauley Culkin’s advancing years have been of great interest to those who grew up watching him in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Since his tweet about turning 40 gained so much attention, the actor was inspired to create a documentary, Macaulay Culkin’s Midlife Crisis. The docuseries will see Culkin traveling as he searches for what it means to hit middle age.

The show was announced in February, and comes from Lightbox. The production company’s co-founders, Simon and Jonathan Chinn said of the series:

A release day for Macaulay Culkin’s Midlife Crisis is yet to be announced.

“Mack remains as iconic, and as loved as ever – a social media sensation, internet entrepreneur, and hard-working member of his pizza-themed Velvet Underground tribute band. Despite his legendary status, like the rest of us he’s having to confront what it means to be a normal middle-aged guy, with a wife and a new kid who’s soon going to be the same age he was when he became a massive global superstar. We are thrilled to be working through our midlife crises with him on this exciting project.”
