Celebrated actor Mads Mikkelsen will reunite with Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller for Dust Bunny, a movie that finds Mikkelsen as a man hunting monsters under the bed. Coming courtesy of Deadline, Dust Bunny will be written and directed by Bryan Fuller, with the filmmaker teaming up once again with Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen for what sounds like a beautifully twisted tale of monsters and childhood fears.

According to the report, Dust Bunny “follows an eight-year-old girl who enlists the help of her intriguing neighbor to kill the monster under her bed that she believes ate her family.” That “intriguing neighbor” will be none other than Mads Mikkelsen, with the actor sure to cut a wonderfully intimidating figure as he searches for family-devouring monsters.

Dust Bunny will be produced by Entertainment One and Thunder Road alongside Fuller and Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee. “We have been huge fans of Bryan’s for years. Dust Bunny is incredibly inventive and unlike anything in the marketplace and we are thrilled to help bring his first feature to life,” said Lee.

“Mads brings such a unique quality to every character he brings to life and his role in Dust Bunny will be no exception,” adds Kristen Figeroid, Managing Director and Executive Vice President of Sierra/Affinity, before teasing the tone of the project. “We’re excited to bring a throwback to the family horror films of the 80s, a beloved genre for many, to this year’s market at AFM.”

Will We Ever See Hannibal Season 4?

The sight of Mikkelsen and Fuller together again is sure to have people wondering whether will ever see a fourth season of their brilliant horror series, Hannibal. It has now been seven years since we last basked in the gory splendor of the NBC series, which stars Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, a gifted criminal profiler and hunter of serial killers, with Mads Mikkelsen taking on the role of Hannibal Lecter. The series was universally praised, and ever since being unceremoniously canceled, fans have hoped that the show would be brought back.

While there is currently no word on Hannibal Season 4, Mikkelsen did reveal last year that talks were back on. “The talks have been revitalized,” the actor said. “I don’t think you’d find a member of the cast that is still alive that would say, “No, thanks.’ We all enjoyed it tremendously.”

Before taking on monster-hunting duties, Mikkelsen will continue his legacy as the go-to villain in Indiana Jones 5. Plot details for the sequel are still under wraps, but it is rumored that Indiana Jones 5 will reunite the adventurer with his old enemies, the Nazis, through their involvement in the 60s Space Race. Further rumors have claimed that Mads Mikkelsen will play “a Nazi scientist enlisted into NASA by the United States government to work on the space agency’s moon landing initiative.”

Directed by James Mangold, with a script co-written by Mangold, Jez Butterworth, and John-Henry Butterworth, and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas alongside Harrison Ford and Mads Mikkelsen, Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to be released on June 30, 2023.
