Margot Robbie may not be reprising the role of Harley Quinn in the upcoming Joker: Folie á Deux, but she remains excited about the iconic DC villain’s future. The sequel, which is being developed as a musical, welcomes back Joaquin Phoenix as Joker and introduces Lady Gaga as Quinn. During the premiere of Babylon, Robbie’s latest film the actress and producer spoke with ET about Gaga stepping into Quinn’s boots.
Robbie famously portrayed Quinn in Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad. Earlier this month, the actress and producer told Variety that she had pushed for a romantic relationship between Quinn and Poison Ivy for years.
“I think she’s going to do an amazing job. I’m so excited, it’s all I could’ve ever hoped for Harley was that she would become one of those characters, kinda like Batman or Hamlet, that gets handed from actor to actor, everyone gets a go at playing them,” Robbie told ET. “So, I think it’s just credit to her as a character that people want to see her in multiple iterations. I’m excited.”
