Mark Ruffalo has been a prominent member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first appearing as Bruce Banner and his Hulk counterpart in The Avengers (2012). He took over the role from Edward Norton following his portrayal in The Incredible Hulk, which resulted in the behind-the-scenes drama between the actor and Marvel Studios. Ruffalo has since been unproblematic for Disney and the MCU, becoming synonymous with his role and constantly appearing in different films despite not having a solo movie for himself.

Ruffalo and his Bruce Banner have appeared in all of The Avengers films, Thor: Ragnarok, Captain Marvel, and Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, to name a few. He’s loyal to his Marvel franchise and fan base and will co-star in the upcoming Disney+ series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, releasing Aug 18. Although Ruffalo is a fan of another Disney property, Star Wars, the actor believes one franchise is superior in creativity and taking risks. During an interview with Metro, Ruffalo shared the difference between the MCU and Star Wars and why he believes Marvel does things a little better.

Of course, Star Wars fans will vehemently disagree, while Marvel fans will point out all the variety within the MCU. Although neither side will ultimately agree, most fans can enjoy the respective franchises for the entertainment on offer.

“Marvel generally lets them bring that to the material. If you watch a Star Wars, you’re pretty much going to get the same version of Star Wars each time. It might have a little bit a humor. It might have a little bit of different animation. But you’re always, really, in that same kind of world. But with Marvel you can have a whole different feeling even within the Marvel universe.”

Mark Ruffalo Isn’t Worried About Too Much Marvel Content

Marvel currently has 36 projects available for your viewing pleasure, including the Disney+ shows, which have been released over the past few years. Of course, some would argue that the MCU has oversaturated its own market with the sheer quantity produced by the studio, but Mark Ruffalo isn’t worried about that. He tells Metro:

Marvel isn’t slowing down anytime soon, as they recently announced their upcoming slate of films and TV series. Secret Invasion, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Blade, and Daredevil: Born Again are just a few projects launching in Phase 5 of the MCU, with Phase 6 already receiving two Avengers films. There’s a lot to look forward to for Mark Ruffalo and Marvel. You can see the actor portray the Hulk once again when She-Hulk releases on Disney+, Aug 18.

“It’s not something I worry about. I understand that these things run their course and then something else comes along. But the thing Marvel has done well is that, inside the MCU, just as they do with comic books, they let a director or an actor sort of recreate each piece to their own style, their likeness.”
