Just over a month ago, reports surfaced that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was about to undergo some reshoots, which were said to be a combination of shots that had to be originally reworked due to COVID restrictions and new material needed to complete the film, and it looks like those reshoots are now pretty much ready to wrap. The new movie will be the next major release from Marvel following this week’s arrival of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and with Doctor Strange having a prominent role in the web-slinger’s third solo movie under the MCU banner, fans are already looking to that movie for hints of how the sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange origin movie will fit in the overall picture.

Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Sorcerer Supreme Steven Strange in the latest addition to the MCU’s always developing storyline and even though the film originally completed principle photography earlier this year, November saw a second round of reshoots begin following additional work done by fellow Marvel returnee Elizabeth Olsen a couple of months earlier. Now in an interview with Variety on the red carpet of the Spider-Man: No Way Home premiere, Marvel’s President of Physical and Post Production, Victoria Alonso revealed that this final set of reshoots are “almost done.” You can check out her full comments in the clip below.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is going to be one of the biggest and potentially most pivotal movies of Marvel’s Phase Four, bringing together strands of both the MCU’s big and small screen properties with links to Spider-Man: No Way Home, WandaVision and Loki among others. While there is virtually nothing known about the plot of the film, mainly in part to it clearly being reliant on the finale of Spider-Man: No Way Home, we do know that Elizabeth Olsen will be reprising her role as Scarlet Witch as part of the ensemble cast that also includes Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams and Chiwetel Ejifor.

As with every Marvel movie, there are plenty of theories about what could happen and who else could appear in the film, including suggestion that thanks to their multiverse breaking story, Loki and Sylvie could turn up along with a number of unconfirmed cameos from “variants” of popular Marvel heroes. The thing to remember about the multiverse is that it creates an almost limitless possibility for who can potentially appear, and as well as being a prime property to have some real fun, it is also one that could well set up multiple future movies and shows thanks to its suspected fractured nature.

With news that shooting is almost now once again complete, fans will be again looking for signs of a first trailer, which was originally rumored to form part of the post-credit scenes of Spider-Man: No Way Home. While a tease or lead in to the movie would seem likely, there have also been reports that a teaser trailer will be arriving sometime before the end of the year, although by Marvel standards that does seem a little soon considering how long they made fans wait for their first look at No Way Home. However, all of this will become irrelevant on May 6th when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness makes its cinematic debut.
