What to Expect From Hit-Monkey Season 2

     Hulu

Hit-Monkey is a unique adult animated series that has taken the classic revenge story and given it a fresh spin. The combination of humor and violence creates an entertaining and engaging viewing experience, and the show has been well-received by audiences. For the second season, Hit-Monkey and Bryce will embark on a new and exciting adventure, traveling from Japan to New York City. Tatasciore and Sudeikis will reprise their roles, with Olivia Munn and Ally Maki returning. In addition, comedian Leslie Jones has joined the cast in an undisclosed role, adding another layer of excitement to the upcoming season.

Hit-Monkey’s concept is self-contained and doesn’t rely on connections to the larger Marvel universe. This allows the writers to have creative freedom and makes the show accessible to audiences who may not be familiar with the Marvel universe. However, the show still includes references and Easter eggs to the Marvel universe, which fans appreciate but do not play a significant role in the story.

Hit-Monkey was originally part of a larger plan by Hulu and Marvel Television to create a group of Marvel animated series. The other three shows in the partnership were M.O.D.O.K., Howard the Duck, and Tigra & Dazzler. The goal was to eventually bring the shows together for a crossover event called The Offenders, which would have been Hulu’s version of Netflix’s The Defenders. M.O.D.O.K. was the first of the planned Marvel animated series to premiere and was deeply rooted in the Marvel universe. However, Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler were canceled before they could premiere.

Hit-Monkey was the only non-MCU show to return for a second season. This is likely due to its self-contained concept and lack of ties to the larger Marvel universe. The fact that The Offenders never took place allowed Hit-Monkey to remain separate from the Marvel universe, which has likely contributed to its renewal.

The first season of Hit-Monkey is available to stream on Hulu.
