The key art for Mayor of Kingstown was changed out of respect for Jeremy Renner. At the start of the year, Renner had been seriously injured in a snowplowing accident, resulting in a trip to the ICU and emergency surgery. At the time, it was reported that he was in critical condition, though he has since recovered enough to head back home.
“Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home,” Renner posted on Twitter.
Renner’s accident happened about two weeks ahead of the return of his Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown. The original key art featured Renner front and center as Mike McLusky, looking bloodied and banged up. In light of Renner’s real-life injuries, the key art was edited to have the blood removed. You can see both versions of the key art below, via Deadline.
