Mia Goth and Alexander Skarsgård are set to star alongside each other in the upcoming horror/sci-fi film Infinity Pool. The film follows James (Skarsgård) and Em Foster (Cleopatra Coleman) as they enjoy an all-inclusive vacation on the fictional island of La Tolqa. However, everything is not as it seems when a fatal accident exposes the resort’s perverse subculture of hedonistic tourism, reckless violence, and surreal horrors.

The official poster for the project was recently released courtesy of NEON, showcasing Goth and Skarsgård as they submerge themselves under a pool, with Goth leading the way. The brand-new Infinity Pool poster can be found below.

An excellent cast joins Skarsgård, Coleman, and Goth. Their co-stars include Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong), Amanda Brugel (The Handmaid’s Tale), John Ralston (Ready or Not), Caroline Boulton (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent), Anita Major (FBI: International), Amar Bukvic (Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard), and Roderick Hill (The Witcher). The official synopsis for Infinity Pool reads:

Infinity Pool will be one of the first horror films to release in theaters in 2023. The project arrives early next year, premiering at the Sundance Film Festival before its theatrical release on January 27, 2023.

“While staying at an isolated island resort, James (Alexander Skarsgård) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman) are enjoying a perfect vacation of pristine beaches, exceptional staff, and soaking up the sun. But guided by the seductive and mysterious Gabi (Mia Goth), they venture outside the resort grounds and find themselves in a culture filled with violence, hedonism, and untold horror. A tragic accident leaves them facing a zero tolerance policy for crime: either you’ll be executed, or, if you’re rich enough to afford it, you can watch yourself die instead.”

Brandon Cronenberg helms Infinity Pool; you may have heard the name before. No, he’s not the director of classics like The Fly, though he is related to the filmmaker. Brandon is the son of David Cronenberg, and the father and son duo share a love for body horror and sci-fi, making films like no one else in the industry.

David Cronenberg is responsible for movies such as Crash, Videodrome, The Dead Zone, and, most recently, Crimes of the Future. The filmmaker made a name for himself in Hollywood with grotesque horror that shocks audiences. His son, Brandon Cronenberg, is following in his father’s footsteps, delivering a few projects with a similar theme. He made his feature film directorial debut in 2012 with Antiviral before his follow-up, Possessor, released in 2020. The latter received favorable reviews from audiences and critics, creating a ton of anticipation for his next film. Now, Cronenberg is ready to hit the big screen once again with Infinity Pool, arriving in theaters next month on Jan. 27.
