Former child star Shaun Weiss is doing very well after his well-publicized brush with the law two years ago. In January 2020, Weiss was arrested on charges of residential burglary and being under the influence of a controlled substance. At the time, he had been struggling with meth addiction, but after his arrest, Weiss has been staying clean and doing much better with the help of his close friend and advocate, Drew Gallagher.
Gallagher recently told People that Weiss is now doing “pretty awesome,” marking two years of sobriety with a celebratory lunch at Brent’s Deli in Los Angeles. After going to rehab, Weiss is currently living in a sober house where he celebrated his first year of sobriety last year and he hopes to get his own apartment when his “finances get more stable.” For now, Weiss has been delving back into show business to get some income coming in, and his future is much more promising now than it was at this point two years ago.

“He’s been doing standup a couple places, so that’s cool,” Gallagher noted. “He’s been really enjoying that even though he doesn’t love being on stage without any upper teeth. He still can’t resist.”

Weiss had lost his teeth while battling addiction, though he had since been gifted with a full new set of teeth. He’s just currently waiting on the final fittings.
Shaun Weiss Just Might Return to the Role of Goldberg
Shaun Weiss
With Shaun Weiss doing so well with his recovery, the former child star is looking at a return to acting. Drew Gallagher says that Weiss is still hilarious and especially excels at comedy, so he shouldn’t have a problem stepping back onto a set to get his face back on the screen for a new movie or TV project.
“We’re kind of focusing on just trying to get him back out there acting, he’s still as funny as ever,” Gallagher said. “His comedy material is really on point. Shaun’s been in the game since he was a kid so he can hop right back on screen no problem.”
One of the most obvious avenues for Weiss to make a potential return to acting could be for the Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. The show serves as a continuation of the original movie trilogy from the 1990s which featured Weiss as the fan favorite character, Greg Goldberg. Several original Ducks came back for a special appearance in the first season, joining Emilio Estevez who was also back as Gordon Bombay.
Estevez has since left the series and won’t be back in season 2. One way to make up for this loss would be to bring in more original stars from the movies that weren’t shown in the first season of Game Changers. With Weiss looking to return to acting, and with the opportunity for him to reprise his most famous role being right there, an appearance on The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers just might happen.
