It’s going to be Bangerz! It’s now become an annual tradition - at least if you party in the U.S.A. - to sing along with Miley Cyrus as she kicks off the new year with a banging televised New Year’s Eve Party. And as usual, the former Disney Channel star is planning on kicking off 2023 in style: by throwing a hoedown throw down with godmother, Dolly Parton.

For the second year in a row, Cyrus is returning to NBC to host its New Year’s Eve celebration to kick off 2023. Last year’s event, co-hosted with Saturday Night Live alumnus Pete Davidson, was a success and drew 6.3 million viewers, according to NBC. It was also the number one most-viewed NYE special on Twitter. This year, NBC hopes to up the ante by having Cyrus co-host with her godmother, Dolly Parton.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
The 2021-2022 special was produced by SNL creator Lorne Michaels, who will also be producing the event for 2022-2023. “Lorne Michaels is literally a master at improvising and putting together a show of this scale. He does it every week in five days,” Cyrus told Variety in June 2022. “I think everyone wants to watch something that is real and honest and genuine and authentic—which is relatable to the way that everyone celebrates at home.”
Anne Heche Wanted Miley Cyrus to Play Her in a Biopic
Universal Pictures
Anne Heche passed away on August 11, 2022, after being critically injured when her car crashed into a house at a high speed on August 5. In a posthumously released clip from the Behind the Velvet Pope podcast, Heche discussed who she would like to see play her in a movie about her life. The actress, who was a victim of sexual abuse as a child and struggled with mental health, said that it would be an honor to see Cyrus or Kristen Bell play a younger version of herself.
Speaking about Cyrus, Heche said:
“I’ve seen her Hannah Montana. To be able to do that, to be able to express that, to be able to be as bold as she’s been– going from Disney into, you know, ‘Wrecking Ball,’ the way she moves, the way she sings, her voice, her compassion, she f–king loves everyone. Her ability to get out on stage and sing a cappella! That would be the way that I would see a pure artist engaging with the world.”
