With Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles from previously non-MCU shows, the question on many fans’ minds is that other characters might appear in future MCU projects. Some fans of the ABC show Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD are using D’Onofrio’s and Cox’s appearances as a rallying cry to revive the beloved show. And now we know that at least one of the show’s stars, Ming-Na Wen, is hopeful that the fans’ rallying cry is noticed.

In recent comments made to Deadline, Wen discussed what the fans of the show mean to her. “I love that our small fanbase is getting bigger and bigger, because I think people are starting to rewatch all the episodes and realizing what a wonderful series it was and I love the fans and the fans’ reactions.” When asked about the possibility of a revival, Wen added, “Fingers crossed. Who knows?”

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD ran for seven seasons on ABC, spinning off from the events of the first Avengers movie. The show centers around a team of SHIELD agents led by Agent Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, who reprised his role from the movies, that investigate strange and wonderful things while battling the forces of Hydra. From the very beginning of the show when it was revealed that Coulson was saved from death at the hands of Loki during the events of The Avengers by going through the TAHITI Program (It’s a magical place… Or maybe not so much.) fans were treated to a wild ride of constant intrigue, daring and fun as the agents of SHIELD saved the world multiple times.

Ming-Na Wen starred as Agent Melinda May, affectionately known by many as the Cavalry despite hating the nickname. Agent May was hand-picked by Director Fury to put the best team possible together for Coulson. In addition, she was put on the team to keep an eye on Coulson in case something went wrong with the TAHITI treatment. Agent May became Coulson’s most trusted confidante over the course of the series.

Despite having ties to the movies, such as several appearances from Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD veered off into its own separate universe. And with the revelation at the end of Hawkeye that Laura Barton is, in fact, Agent 13 (the agent number associated with Mockingbird in the comics), it is clear that Agents of SHIELD cannot exist in the same continuity as the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. But with the Multiverse now opened up, anything is really possible.

Fans of the show started a hashtag #SaveAgentsofSHIELD which quickly began trending across the internet today. Based on Wen’s comments to Deadline, it would appear that she is grateful for the fans’ love and support of the show.

Wen can be seen as Fennec Shand on the Disney+ show The Book of Boba Fett, which is another character she is very proud to portray. Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD is currently streaming on Netflix in the USA. And if you are looking for a bit of fun Stan Lee content, the longtime Marvel boss makes a cameo in Season 1, episode 13.
