Those eager to see more on Tom Cruise’s latest installment in his ongoing Mission Impossible franchise won’t have to wait much longer. Just today on the official Twitter page, a clip teasing behind-the-scenes footage on the set of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One was posted, showing Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie standing near the edge of a massive ramp overlooking a very scenic and very deep valley. Undoubtedly for yet another of Cruise’s renowned fearless stunts, audiences will be able to see more starting Thursday, December 15th, ahead of IMAX screenings of James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

According to IGN, the stunt in question, reportedly the most dangerous one Cruise has ever done, is likely one seen in the first official trailer for the film, where Cruise rides a motorcycle off a cliff side into a free fall. Of course, it’s simply yet another death-defying accomplishment for the actor to add to his impossibly long list of personal stunt victories. Such fierce commitment to those feats have long given Cruise a universal respect from both the industry and audiences worldwide, and kept the franchise as immensely popular as ever.

Dead Reckoning Brings Closure to Industry’s Most Memorable Action Franchise

Dead Reckoning Part One, the seventh film in the Mission Impossible franchise, follows up on the events of Mission Impossible: Fallout (2018), the highest-grossing title in the series to date that notably had Henry Cavill and Alec Baldwin among its cast. Dead Reckoning Part One will be the first part of the conclusion of Ethan Hunt’s long, tumultuous journey with his agency IMF. The trailer gives a smooth monologue on the idealism of right vs wrong, and hints at Ethan being forced to “pick a side”, as an ultimatum. As expected, he will have to fight with every fiber to not only come out on the right side, but likely change what that ‘right’ side will be.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One is set to officially be released on July 14th, 2023, after a delay from its original premiere date due to COVID-19 setbacks. As both Part One and Part Two were filmed back-to-back, the final film Dead Reckoning Part Two will release soon after on June 28th, 2024. It will not only bring the series to its fated conclusion, but the end of an era in serious action filmmaking.
