It’s official: Mo will be coming back for another season at Netflix, though there’s also a catch, as season 2 has also been announced as the last of the comedy series. Originally debuting on Netflix in August, Mo stars Mo Amer as a Palestinian refugee seeking asylum in Texas, and Amer is essentially playing a fictionalized version of himself. Amer created the series with Ramy Youssef in addition to starring in the lead role. Reviews have been stellar, which must have certainly helped the show’s chances in getting this renewal for season 2.
“I’m thankful to continue to tell a universal story of struggle that relates to so many refugees and millions of under-represented humans trying to be seen around the globe and to be able to bring the people who loved and rooted for Mo Najjar along for the ride as we close this chapter of his story,” Amer said in a statement addressing the renewal, per Variety.

The show’s other stars include Teresa Ruiz as Maria, Farah Bseiso as Yusra, and Omar Elba as Sameer. Amer also serves as an executive producer alongside directr Solvan “Slick” Naim, Harris Danow, and Luvh Rakhe. The studio behind the show is A24.
Mo Has Been a Tremendous Critical Hit

The critics have been loving the story told by Amer that played out in the first season, leaving many to anticipate what will happen in the final season coming soon. Over at Rotten Tomatoes, the series has a rare perfect scoe of 100% fresh, getting a positive review from every one of the site’s approved critics. The audience score at the site is also high, ranking at 88%. Critics have praised the show for excellently blending its humor with a genuine exploration of life as an immigrant seeking asylum in the United States in the modern day.
