Modern Family was a sensational hit among viewers, spending a large portion of the 2000s playing on TV non-stop. Due to its popularity, the show ran for 11 seasons, racking up an impressive 250 episodes, airing from 2009 to 2020 and collecting a brag-worthy 22 Emmy Awards. For those who may not remember, the show features three unique types families: nuclear, same-sex, and blended, who all live in Los Angeles. All three families are interrelated through Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill) with his daughter Claire (Julie Bowen) and son Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson).
Even though the show was hugely popular with viewers, Modern Family held a special place in the world of TV for its diversity and representation of sexuality groups. It is true that for all intents and purposes, Modern Family is a normal show that could be enjoyed by anyone. But, over time, they became celebrated for their representation of gay couples, culturally diverse cast, and their representation of immigrants and non-native Americans. Although, they did receive some backlash for the gay stereotypes they displayed in the show. Regardless, they were ahead of their time for TV purposes, featuring a gay male couple six years before the US legalized same-sex marriage. Knowing the impact this series had on viewers, we can’t help but wonder where our featured Modern Family cast is today and what they’ve done since the show came to an end.
