Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is shaping up to be not only the biggest Ant-Man movie to date, but also a cornerstone of the Multiverse Saga thanks to the inclusion of Kang the Conqueror, or at least one variant of him, as its villain. However, there is more to the Ant-Man threequel than that, with the film seeming to have several other potential villains waiting in the wings to cause trouble for Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, including big-headed baddie MODOK.
Having already had his own now canceled animated series on Hulu, MODOK’s live-action debut has been teased for a little while since the first rumors of his inclusion in Quantumania started to circulate. While MODOK has been seen in footage revealed exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con and again at D23 Expo, his appearance, along with the rest of the Ant-Man 3 footage, is yet to be revealed to the public. For this reason, a new image of Quantumania merchandise has revealed a first look at MODOK in a full body suit, which reportedly ties up with his appearance in the new footage. How exactly MODOK will fit into the story is currently unknown, which can also be said of the inclusion of Kang in the mix. At the weekend, Kevin Feige commented that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will begin “a direct line” to the end of the Multiverse Saga, which will play out across the two Avengers movies, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, in the culmination of Phase 6.
Kang The Conqueror is Going to Be Showing Up in Many MCU Projects
Marvel Studios
From the moment he arrived in the Infinity Saga, Thanos was Thanos, even in Avengers: Endgame when he traveled to the future to take on the Avengers. Kang the Conqueror is a completely different villain who will appear in numerous forms, as his multiversal variants converge to bring about the biggest challenge the Avengers have faced so far. For Jonathan Majors, though, who has already made his first appearance as the Kang variant of He Who Remains in Loki, it has been a blast so far.
Speaking previously about playing the multiverse’s biggest threat, Majors explained that there are certainly several differences between the version of Kang that people have already seen and the ones that are coming, starting with his appearance in Quantumania. He told GamesRadar:
Having teased footage at two events, and with the movie set to be released in February 2023, it cannot be long before Marvel Studios release the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer online for everyone to enjoy. Until then, fans will continue to look for any new images and tie-in merchandise they can find to just a little more detail about the opening movie of the MCU’s Phase 5.
