Spider-Man: No Way Home delivered a dream fan scenario of having multiple Spider-Men from across time coming together in one universe to take on some of the character’s most iconic adversaries from his big screen adventures. While this served to deliver Sony and Marvel Studios the biggest Spider-Man feature of all time, it has also had its own timeline-breaking effect on audiences who have now begun to speculate on every possible crossover that could happen in the near future, and with Morbius being one of the next Marvel movies to hit cinemas there are obviously a lot of questions about whether Tom Holland, or even another Spider-Man could make an appearance in the movie.

Sony has been developing their own Spider-Man universe with characters like Venom, Morbius, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter, but while Spider-Man has been spotted as a graffiti-covered image on a wall in the Morbius trailer, the webbed-wonder has not yet been seen in person in any of Sony’s newer movies. That has obviously led to quite a bit of expectation that at some point Spider-Man will appear, and the real question is just when will that be and who will be wearing the suit.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight recently, Morbius star Jared Leto has been addressing the question of whether Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could make an appearance in his upcoming movie in the only way he is allowed to – very vaguely. Leto said:

“I’ll tell you, I would love to get in the ring with Spider-Man. I think Tom Holland is amazing, and we’d make quite a dynamic duo.”

Sony Is Setting Up a Spider-Man Villain Universe, But Who Will Be Its Spider-Man?

The most recent trailers for Morbius have caused a lot of confusion about where exactly the movie lies in respect to other Marvel movies. While Marvel Studios has done a lot of work to ensure that the continuity of the MCU is, with very small exceptions, kept in check, unlike the DCEU which has branched off in so many directions that it is hard to work out which DC movies are part of it and which are not. With Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage featuring a Tom Holland cameo appearance, and Morbius featuring Michael Keaton in his role of the Vulture, who was introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming, there are now a number of questions waiting to be answered about exactly where Morbius and Sony’s new universe sit in relation to the MCU.

Of course, there is a good possibility that many questions will be answered once Morbius finally has the chance to be seen in cinemas but after yet another delay the film is now not expected to arrive until April 1st. Whether there is a Spider-Man in the movie, and whether Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, or Tobey Maguire turn out to be the one taking on the growing legion of villains sometime in the future, there is certainly no doubt that Sony’s upcoming movies are going to benefit greatly from the heights Spider-Man has reached in his latest MCU adventure, and even as one of the generally lesser-known Marvel characters, Morbius is going to be the first to see just how much the Spider-Man connection equates to in box office numbers.
