Peacock looks to maintain its strong lineup of shows on the streaming service with the upcoming series Mrs. Davis. The project stars Betty Gilpin in one of the lead roles, with the actress being known for her work in GLOW, The Tomorrow War, and The Hunt. Mrs. Davis will make its way to the small screen next year, with a premiere set for April 20, 2023.
The debut will see the first four episodes arrive on April 20, with weekly installments to follow every Thursday. The series is described as “an absurd and epic tale of one unconventional heroine on a journey that will force audiences to re-examine the systems in which we place our faith.” Gilpin will play Simone, a nun who goes to battle against an all-powerful Artificial Intelligence known as the titular Mrs. Davis. The first images from the series were recently released, showcasing Gilpin alongside her new co-stars. The upcoming series looks to offer a little bit of everything as the show tackles heavy themes through a unique lens. Betty Gilpin is joined by an excellent cast, with Jake McDorman (Dopesick, The Right Stuff) and Andy McQueen (Station Eleven, Fahrenheit 451) starring alongside her. Recurring cast members include Ben Chaplin (Birthday Girl, The Thin Red Line), Margo Martindale (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story), David Arquette (Never Been Kissed), Elizabeth Marvel (True Grit), Katja Herbers (Westworld), Chris Diamantopoulos (True Story, Silicon Valley), Ashley Romans (Y: The Last Man), Tom Wlashiha (Game of Thrones), and Mathilde Ollivier (1899).
Tara Hernandez serves as showrunner, executive producer, and co-writer for Mrs. Davis, known for her work on The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. She’s joined by Damon Lindelof as a co-writer and EP, with notable work including Lost, The Leftovers, and Watchmen. Mrs. Davis will include eight episodes in the first season, with the first four episodes launching on April 20 of next year.
