Spoiler Warning: Ms. Marvel Season One
While we don’t know for sure how many people watched Ms. Marvel (Disney doesn’t announce streaming numbers in that detail), we do know that it was beloved by critics. In fact, it was so well received that it is the highest-rated MCU show yet on Rotten Tomatoes, with 98% on the Tomatometer. Fans have rallied around it, and with each episode drop, it quickly found a Twitter trend blessed upon it.
At the start, however, it struggled to find an audience. As the show continued to drop episodes, the audience grew with it. And then, of course, there was the surprise stinger at the end of the finale of Kamala Khan switching places/teleporting/warping with Captain Marvel herself, Carol Danvers. The stinger likely fits within the realm of Kamala’s upcoming appearance in the feature film The Marvels, when we expect to see Ms. Marvel join Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau (whom we met in WandaVision). While we don’t know much about the film yet, we do know that the actors who played Kamala’s family are expected to reprise their roles.

But, can we expect these actors, as well as the other favorites from Ms. Marvel, to appear in season two of the acclaimed show? If cinematographer Jules O’Loughlin is to be believed, then… no. In fact, as stated in an interview with ComicBook, O’Loughlin hasn’t heard anything about a second season at all. While Disney and Marvel may be hoping to expand Kamala’s role into feature films, especially after the hint that Kamala may be the first mutant we know of in the MCU.
However, for the sake of hope, here’s who we’d love to see more of if Ms. Marvel is eventually given a second season – after all, Ms. Marvel herself, Iman Vellani, wants more.
The Beloved Best Friend, Bruno Carrelli
Marvel Studios
The obvious first answer is Bruno, portrayed by Matt Lintz, who is Kamala’s best friend, potential love interest, and the brains behind Kamala’s brawn. Bruno proved to be loved by the Khan family, a brilliant student (who was on his way to early collegiate classes while still a high school student), and an inventor. His relationship with Kamala is as important as any other in the show, and he, along with Kamala’s other friends, were motivating characters to push Kamala into action.
The Strong Friend, Nakia Bahadir
Portrayed by Yasmeen Fletcher, Nakia is the third part of the triangle of friendship between Kamala and Bruno. Nakia offers a unique perspective for Kamala, a spiritual and great friend to who she can relate during their teen years of becoming young women. Nakia is outspoken, strong-willed, and now one leader of their mosque. We can expect her to continue this friendship, as well as her role as a leader.
Kamala’s Pakistani Counterpart, Kareem/Red Dagger
At the end of Ms. Marvel, Kareem, portrayed by Aramis Knight, is seen as Kamala’s Pakistani counterpart, who helps Kamran (more on him shortly) escape New Jersey and the search by the Department of Damage Control (DODC). He’s still mysterious but powerful, talented, and a strong ally for Kamala. It seems likely that Kamala could see further adventures in Pakistan, further exploring their connections, friendship, and alliance. This is naturally further supported by Kareem’s comic arcs and connections to Kamala (including romantic interests).
Kamran, a Friend Pulled Back from Villainy
Kamran, portrayed by Rish Shah, tiptoed the line of villainy during season one. If it wasn’t for Kamala’s compassion and friendship, it is possible that Kamran would have tripped over the line and catastrophically injured or even killed dozens of people in his fight against the DODC – who themselves seem edging quickly towards villainy.
Kamran was initially the love interest for Kamala. While that seems unlikely to continue, Kamran’s newly gifted powers suggest that he and Kareem may be training partners should a season two be green-lit.
The Khan Family Could Get Bigger Roles
One of the greatest things about Ms. Marvel was the transformation of Kamala’s family, their relationship, and their support of Kamala. By the end of the season, her parents, Yusuf (Mohan Kapur) and Muneeba (Zenobia Shroff), are her biggest supporters.
Her mother created her costume for her (which astute viewers could have predicted after she made the Hulk costume), and Yusuf distilled fatherly life advice that helped Kamala recognize her potential (and moniker). Her brother Aamir (Saagar Shaikh) was wonderful as an ally and actionable supporter, and his role could easily be expanded upon in a second season. As mentioned earlier, they’ll be appearing in The Marvels in some fashion.
Comic Connections Could be Explored
Marvel Comics
While we don’t know that a second season is guaranteed, there have been many hints of establishing the “street level” crew of MCU stories, including She-Hulk and Daredevil, alongside stories for Ms. Marvel. In the comics, Ms. Marvel is an Inhuman but will likely be a mutant in the MCU. Her comics storyline includes mostly micro connections to characters within her area.
The first supervillain she faces is the insanely bizarre The Inventor, an incidental clone of Thomas Edison and a cockatiel. The absurdity of this villain would be so funny onscreen, so maybe showrunner Bisha K. Ali will be feeling goofy. As the MCU continues proteges turning into leaders (think Kate Bishop, America Chavez), perhaps the likely story will be introducing the Young Avengers and offering a future for the younger characters the MCU has carefully shown the ropes to.
At this point, it’s all fun to speculate, but if you’re a fan of the show, make your voice heard and share it on social media. It may be the best chance to get the Marvel and Disney brass to consider more stories in Jersey City.
