My Name is Earl premiered on NBC in 2005 and featured Jason lee as the titular character, who gets hit by a car shortly after discovering his lottery ticket has won him $100,000 (and essentially loses the ticket). While in the hospital, watching Carson Daly, Earl learns about karma and realizes that he needs to turn his life around by doing good deeds. As a result, he makes a list of all the bad things he’s done and the people that he’s wronged, and vows to correct his mistakes. Upon committing his first deed, he stumbles upon his lost lottery ticket and ultimately becomes convinced of the efficacy of karma.

The comedy series quickly gained a strong following, with lots of committed fans tuning in to find out more about Earl’s adventures. My Name is Earl ran for four successful seasons, totaling 96 episodes. One of the strongest points of the series was its massively talented cast, many of whom have moved on to do greater things with their careers. Dale Dickey

Dale Dickey joined the My Name is Earl cast in the recurring role of Patty. Prior to this, she had lots of appearances in movies and TV shows under her belt. After her appearance in My Name is Earl, her career really started to take off, and she obtained a supporting role in the Oscar-nominated Winter’s Bone. She also appeared in True Blood, continuing her success across film and TV.

Billy Gardell

Billy Gardell starred as Officer Hoynes in an 11-episode run on My Name is Earl, and his career has only grown since his being on the show. After his appearance on the show, he acquired his own show Mike and Molly where he starred alongside Melissa McCarthy. He continues to acquire work in movies such as Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas and TV shows such as Young Sheldon and Phineas and Ferb.

Eddie Steeples

In My Name is Earl, Eddie Steeples stars as the lovable Darnell Turner, and he had already enjoyed a successful career before joining the show. He obtained a role in Raising Hope after the show’s cancelation, and he has continued to work in Hollywood in directing and producing roles since his appearance on the show.

Alyssa Milano

Alyssa Milano is best known for her role in Charmed, which was a huge success when it was on air. She joined the cast of My Name is Earl for its third season, playing Billie. In recent years, she has taken on less acting roles, but has dabbled in voice acting, namely playing Poison Ivy in Young Justice.

Nadine Velasquez

Nadine Velasquez starred in a main role as Catalina Aruca in My Name is Earl. She appeared in 96 episodes of the series and enjoyed a lot of success while the show was on air. Velasquez continued acting after the show ended, scoring a role in Major Crimes as well as a guest appearance in Raising Hope. More recently, she has joined the cast of ABC’s musical series Queens, which has received positive reviews form critics.

Ethan Suplee

Ethan Suplee’s first major role was in Mallrats, where he starred as William (interestingly, alongside his My Name is Earl co-star Jason Lee). He joined the cast of My Name is Earl as Randy. He has continued to act, starring in Blow, Jennifer Falls, and Entourage, which have all been very successful. He also embarked on a fitness journey, and has totally transformed his physique since his appearance on My Name is Earl.

Jaime Pressly

Jaime Pressly starred as Joy, Earl’s wife. Pressly was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the series, and also won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2007. She has continued to act since the series ended, most notably in Mom, in which she would appear regularly. Pressly also appeared in titles such as Jennifer Falls, but has steadied her career since it’s peak. She has also given birth to two twin sons and spends her time raising them.

Jason Lee

Jason Lee starred as the title role, and also enjoyed much success from his portrayal of Earl. He was nominated for a Golden Globe twice for his performance, but has taken a step back from the limelight after the success of the series. He found work in voice acting, appearing in shows such as American Dad and Marvel Super Heroes. He is set to make a return in Twilight of the Mallrats, per Looper, a sequel to his breakthrough film Mallrats.
