From writers Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship comes a new DC Comics series that follows a teenage girl named Naomi who discovers her superhero abilities after a supernatural event occurs in her town. Following a teaser for the newest superhero drama, Naomi, fans now have a full synopsis of the first episode as well as a foreshadowing for the new series.
When a strange incident shakes her hometown, Naomi McDuffie wants to get to the bottom of it uncover its origins but what she discovers will challenge everything she believes about superheroes and reveal her own special abilities that she was definitely not aware of. Thus far, fans have only been able to preview images, teasers, and looks behind the scenes that teased the series’ connection to the greater DCU. Now, we have a look at an overview of the series first episode that offers more details on Naomi and her new universe.

The full synopsis goes as follows:
“Naomi McDuffie (Kaci Walfall) is living her best life as a top student, skateboarder, and Superman-stan when a ‘stunt’ in the middle of her hometown of Port Oswego turns her world upside down. While Naomi’s doting parents – Greg and Jennifer McDuffie (Barry Watson and Mouzam Makkar) – are concerned with their daughter’s strange new fainting spells, the teen’s closest friends – Annabelle (Mary-Charles Jones), Nathan (Anthony Puig), Lourdes (Camila Moreno), Anthony (Will Meyers), and Jacob (Aidan Gemme) – join Naomi to help uncover who or what is behind the unexpected event that has the small military town buzzing. A bit of sleuthing leads Naomi and her friends to discover that the owners of two local businesses – Dee (Alexander Wraith) and Zumbado (Cranston Johnson) – seem to know a lot more about the incident than everyone else. Soon Naomi realizes that the mysterious event is just the beginning of a thrilling journey that will change her life and challenge her to question everything she knew to be true. The superhero drama is based on the DC Comics character of the same name and is created by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and Jamal Campbell. DuVernay and Blankenship will also serve as executive producers of the series.
The series is starring Kaci Wallfall as Naomi McDuffie with supporting actors including Camila Moreno, Alexander Wraith, Cranston Johnson, Barry Watson, Mary-Charles Jones, Aidan Gemme, Mouzam Makkar, and Will Meyers.
Naomi is set to premiere on The CW on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
