Things have been looking up for Arcane, the little series that seemed to blast out of nowhere and completely took over our hearts upon its premiere in November 2021. The show caught the eyes of critics as well as audiences. During the 49th Annie Awards yesterday, the series ran off with a total of nine awards, as reported by Dot Esports.
The Annie Awards is a celebration for all things animation, where industry people from around the world come together and recognize the achievements that were reached. 2021 was a big year for animation, with streaming services, studios, and networks all releasing their own masterpieces. Such shows that were in the running for television categories were Love, Death & Robots, Castlevania, Maya and the Three, and Amphibia. But Arcane stayed ahead of the game, earning every award that it was nominated for.

Beauty in Destruction
If Arcane managed to slip under your radar until now, here is the official synopsis below.
While the series tells the story of beloved characters in the League of Legends franchise, the show has opened up the world to an all new audience. While the big story in the show is political, the main emotional focus is between Vi and Jinx, two sisters that were torn apart in the crumbling world that the people in the big chairs run. This is what makes the show so easy to digest, even if you’re not into the game that it’s based on.
Arcane scored a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences praised the show for its stunning visuals, which combined the beauty of both 2D and 3D animation. It climbed in the ratings to become the number one program for Netflix in November 2021. The show’s theme song, “Enemy” by Imagine Dragons and JID, held the title of the number one listened to song in Spotify’s Global Rock chart for three consecutive weeks after Arcane’s premier.
All in all, the dedicated crew behind this show has a lot of reasons to celebrate. The hard work on this series seems to have been paying off for everyone. Naturally, after the show’s release, Netflix announced a second season was in production on November 2021. There are currently no updates on the next chapter of this story, what will happen between sisters Vi and Jinx after the events of the first season. But I think it’s safe to say this, whatever is to come from this new season will be a blast to watch.
