Although it feels like 2022 is winding down, Netflix doesn’t seem to mind adding more titles to its fall 2022 lineup. This year, like every other year, has been a fantastic rollercoaster with constant Netflix movies and shows like Troll, The Adam Project, and 1899, which was created by the producers of Dark. While the streaming platform does not lack romantic comedies, hunting for more when you need something soothing and entertaining is always a delight.
Private Lesson, a Turkish romantic comedy film, will arrive on Netflix at just the perfect time this year. The film is directed by the same person who directed the critically acclaimed and award-winning science fiction adventure film G.O.R.A. in 2004. It seems intriguing as it appears to focus more on the characters’ development rather than on the plot itself. Despite being only 90 minutes long, it is jam-packed with entertaining fares like traditional Turkish films and TV shows.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
While one of Netflix’s most anticipated films is being debated, here’s everything we know about Private Lesson, the Turkish romance comedy film.
Private Lesson: The Plot
As the title suggests and the trailer depicts, Private Lesson is all about romantic relationships and how to approach someone’s love interest, two of the most contentious topics in the world. The story centers on Azra, an elegant and confidential counselor who has mastered all aspects of life, including romance and professional decisions. She’s a jack of all trades, which means she can teach anybody to succeed in any field. As a counselor with a keen eye and years of experience, she executes any role the client picks, depending on the situation.
A young adolescent girl with love and life troubles overhears one of her conversations about her success story and approaches Azra. She appears to be introverted and needs advice on how to approach Utku, whom she has a crush on. After accepting the offer, Azra establishes a few ground rules that describe how men and women perceive things.
Azra puts herself into a romantic dilemma while assuming the role of the teenage girl’s counselor, which she can’t seem to win over despite years of experience in the field. Will she be able to straighten things out during her gig with the teenage girl, or will she face one of her few failures in her career? Whatever the outcome, one thing is certain: this private lesson she’s teaching is unlike anything she’s ever encountered.
Private Lesson: The Cast and Crew
Netflix
Private Lesson, also known in Turkish as Ozel Ders, is directed by Kivanc Baruonu, who started his career as an audiovisual editor for TV news programs before making his directorial debut with the film Patron Mutlu Son Istiyor, which translates as Boss Wants a Happy Ending. Arif V 216, G.O.R.A, and Kocan Kadara Konus are some of his other noteworthy works in the field.
Murat Disli and Yasemin Erturan, on the other hand, co-wrote the film’s script. The former is a highly acclaimed writer who has penned numerous blockbuster movies and TV series, including Cars of the Revolution, Kill Me If You Dare, and Stranger in My Pocket. The script and continuity departments will both be managed by Fatma Ozlem Abaci. Netflix has been relatively tight-lipped regarding the crew of Private Lesson, so this is pretty much all we know.
Bensu Soral, a Turkish actress, will play Azra, the teacher and counselor who helps the teenage girl with her love life. She made her debut television appearance in the Yol Ayrimi tv series and quickly rose to prominence in the Turkish film/television industry. Several notable roles like Melek in Icerde, Nazil in Money Trap, Leyla in Glass Ceilings, and Ceren in Tuzak demonstrate her talents as a lead/supporting actress.
Helin Kandemir, a star of Turkish dramas, will portray the role of a teenage girl in her quest for love success, which later turns to Azra for advice. Her most well-known film and television roles are those in A Tale of Three Sisters, The Protector, Stuck Apart, and My Home My Destiny. Additionally, here’s a peek at the supporting cast members: Hatice Aslan, Halit Ozgur Sari, Rami Narin, Deniz Altan, Elif Ceren Balikci, Murat Karasu, Huliya Gulsen Irmak, and Esengul Yilmaz Senalp.
Release Date
Private Lesson, the upcoming quirky romantic movie featuring Bensu Soral in the lead role, will be released on Netflix on December 16, 2022, according to the platform’s official YouTube channel.
The film takes place in lush and stylish environments, as it embodies films shot in Turkey and reminds us of quirky Turkish dramas that surround romance and comedy with a touch of an emotional backdrop.
Speaking of Turkish dramas, here’s a fantastic sci-fi recommendation, Yakamoz S-245, which you might relish while you wait for Private Lesson.
