After almost three years of waiting, fans of The Dragon Prince finally have a light at the end of the tunnel. The official Dragon Prince Twitter account dropped the teaser for the upcoming season 4, titled The Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aaravos. The teaser can be seen below!
The teaser gives us only a tiny taste of what’s to come. A view of the night sky, Viren reaching for the heavens before turning to stone, a hand coming down to grasp him, and the camera cuts back to reveal Aaravos holding the tiny model in his library-like prison, a smile on his face. The official Dragon Prince website gives us only the following as a clue for what’s to come.
So much is described, and yet it paints an abstract picture. Only more questions arise for fans. What comes next for our heroes? Where do they begin in this next chapter? But one thing’s for sure; we’re going to be discovering the history of this most mysterious big bad elf behind Viren’s power and schemes.
New Danger, More Magic!
The Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aaravos
When we last left our heroes, it was an end of a great arc. Not only did the human and elf kingdoms team up in order to stop Viren’s invasion, but we also saw the dragons rising to aid in the battle as well! Viren is close to succeeding in taking Zym’s powers, Rayla rises to the occasion and stops him, sacrificing herself for the greater good. This is until Callum utilizes a new spell that grants him flight, saving her from death. After the battle, Queen Zubeia, Zym’s mother, awakens from her grief-stricken slumber. The dragon queen expresses delight in seeing human, elf, and dragon-kind together in peace to reunite her with her son. But things are brewing in times of celebration.
It is soon revealed that Viren is alive! His daughter Claudia confirms that while he did not survive the fall, she brought him back. Claudia also reveals that the insectoid form that Aaravos took to escape from his prison has now spun into a cocoon, and thus is on the way to becoming something new. The cocoon is pulsating, almost as if it is to hatch at any moment.
Fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. If the new season is going to be centered on Aaravos then chances are we will be able to see the Startouch elf’s new form! If the teaser has any indication of what’s to come, along with any flashbacks, we might also see what he plans to do with Viren.
According to the official Dragon Prince website, more details will be revealed for season 4 at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con in July. The site promises guests will get a sneak peek at a new episode! Details on the team’s SDCC 2022 presence and panel are apparently coming soon.
