Peacock has been stacking up the cast of its Twisted Metal series with some pretty solid names, and another major star has just signed on for a main role. Per Deadline, Neve Campbell, who recently returned to the Scream franchise, has been cast as Raven in the video game adaptation. She joins a handful of cast members that were previously announced, including Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man: No Way Home).
The creative team is also filled with strong talent. Based on the video game series of the same name, Twisted Metal comes from an original concept by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) and is written by Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai), who also serves as series showrunner. Smith is also executive producing with director Kitao Sakurai, Reese, Wernick, Will Arnett, and Marc Forman for Electric Avenue, as well as Jason Spire for Inspire Entertainment, Peter Principato for Arists First, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions, Hermen Hulst of PlayStation Studios.

Campbell was back on the big screen earlier this year for Scream, the fifth installment of the Scream movie series. She is also known for other films including The Craft, Skyscraper, and Clouds and will appear in the upcoming video game sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 3. As a former Party of Five star, Campbell also has plenty of small screen experience, and she can currently be seen in the new Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer in a starring role.
Twisted Metal Takes Inspiration from the Games With an Original Story
Sony
The Twisted Metal video games have typically centered on a contest between combat cars where the winner would have their biggest desire granted, often with disastrous and unintended consequences. It does not appear that the series will have this exact plot, though it will certainly be including combat between drivers of vehicles outfitted with armor and weapons. The series will also be set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, giving it a bit of a Mad Max vibe with a Twisted Metal skin.
According to Deadline, the series specifically follows a “motor-mouthed outsider (Anthony Mackie) offered a chance at a better life—but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief (Stephanie Beatriz), he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.”
“Twisted Metal has been a global phenomenon for more than 25 years but it was the creative vision for this live-action adaptation, led by Michael Jonathan Smith, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick, that blew us away, " Lisa Katz, president of scripted content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, previously said in a statement. “Also, Anthony Mackie starring made it undeniable! This adrenaline-infused comedy series is in expert hands with our partners at Sony Pictures Television, Playstation Productions and Universal Television, and will be the perfect addition to Peacock as we continue to look for uniquely entertaining programs.”
There isn’t a release date set just yet for the Twisted Metal series at Peacock.
