There are a lot of movie secrets to be discovered in wrap gifts given to the cast and crew of big Marvel movies and shows. It looks like a crew photo from the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel may have dropped a massive hint about what Marvel Studios is planning for one of its newest additions to the MCU. While we have yet to see Kamala Kahn make her first appearance in the ongoing Marvel narrative, it looks like there are already plans for Iman Vellani’s heroine to get a second season alongside her next role as part of The Marvels.
Currently, Marvel Studios Disney+ shows are usually seen as one-off limited series and are mainly a way of developing characters in a way that there just isn’t time to do in a big screen movie when time is short and such character developments would just slow down the action. Shows like WandaVision have been able to take a character from where they were last seen in cinemas and get them where they need to be for their next appearance, almost like an appendices entry or supplementary text in a book. So far only Loki and What If…? have been given second seasons, but it looks like Ms. Marvel could be another joining those ranks.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
The image of drinking glass given to crew members on the show was shared on Twitter in a post now deleted, but @MarvlUpdates has a copy that was captured by The Direct and has been shared far and wide to make sure the image stays around on the internet for all to see. The photo shows the glass featuring the Marvel Studios banner and the Ms.Marvel title, under which is text reading Season 1. Although it could just be wishful thinking on someone’s part, similar to when Stephen King’s IT gained the words Chapter 1 just before its end credits rolled, the use of the season number suggested that there will be more to come in the future.
Ms. Marvel Is Expected to Make Her MCU Debut This Summer
While there are always debates about the mostly secretive MCU release schedule, it is thought that Ms. Marvel could be the next Disney+ series to be released after Moon Knight at the end of this month. While it seems to be heading for a July arrival, according to some reports, others have suggested that She-Hulk could arrive first. With Ms. Marvel recently commencing reshoots, it would appear that many release dates are simply a matter of when the projects are actually completed.
Ms. Marvel will see Iman Vellani playing Marvel’s first Muslim superhero, a youngster who idolizes Captain Marvel to the point that she even fashions some of her initial costume choices on her hero. After gaining her own superpowers, Ms. Marvel will get to team up with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and Toyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau for an out-of-this-world adventure in The Marvels, which is currently expected to be the first Marvel movie release of 2023. It is clear that a second season of Ms. Marvel would not be arriving until after that movie debuts, so any storyline would likely be a spin-off from her appearance in the film.
