Beloved studio Aardman Animations has confirmed that work is now underway for a new Wallace & Gromit movie, which will debut on Netflix in 2024. This will be the first time that the man-and-dog duo has been seen on screen since the 2008 short film Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death, with the new movie coming in conjunction with several other Wallace and Gromit-centered projects in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers.
“We are excited to announce plans for the 30th anniversary celebrations of Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers. Released in 1993, The Wrong Trousers was the first film starring the beloved duo to win an Oscar and introduced fan favourite Feathers McGraw, a villainous penguin with ambitions to put Wallace’s inventions to criminal use,” a statement on the official Wallace and Gromit website reads.

Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park has also commented on the development of the movie, with the animator excited to bring the pair back for more adventures.
“The 30th anniversary celebrations coincide with the production of a brand-new Wallace & Gromit film – the first since 2008’s A Matter of Loaf and Death, which was the UK’s most-viewed TV programme of the 2000s with over 16.2 million viewers tuning in to watch. This brand-new, as-yet untitled adventure will premiere exclusively on Netflix around the world except in the UK, where it will debut first on the BBC before also coming to Netflix. It is set for release in 2024.”

“It’s very exciting to have some brand-new Wallace & Gromit stories in the works as we celebrate the anniversary of such an important moment in the characters’ history. The Wrong Trousers was a special film for all of us at Aardman. It’s wonderful that it continues to find new fans today, and that we can bring those fans more adventures – and more inventions, more mishaps, and more problems for Gromit to solve”.
The Netflix Wallace & Gromit Movie Sees the Duo Battling Gnomes

First appearing in A Grand Day Out back in 1989, Wallace, a cheese-loving inventor, and Gromit, his trusty, intelligent dog, have appeared in several shorts and one big screen outing – the critically acclaimed Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit in 2005.
A logline for the upcoming Netflix movie has been released previously and reads, “Gromit’s concern that Wallace has become over-dependant on his inventions proves justified, when Wallace invents a “smart gnome” that seems to develop a mind of its own…As events spiral out of control, it falls to Gromit to put aside his qualms and battle sinister forces - or Wallace may never be able to invent again!”
While a cast has yet to be announced, British actor Ben Whitehead (The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!, Early Man) is likely to continue as the voice of Wallace following the death of Peter Sallis in 2017.
Alongside the Netflix Wallace and Gromit movie, an interactive, narrative-led, single-player VR experience for the Meta Quest all-in-one VR headset titled The Grand Getaway is also now in production. If that were not already enough, Aardman will also be releasing “a limited edition The Wrong Trousers x Olympia Le Tan designer clutch bag,” launching “a new Wallace & Gromit-themed escape room adventure," forming a partnership with the Cartoon Museum in London, and finally “staging 30 performances of The Wrong Trousers with live orchestral accompaniment around the UK.” All of which makes it a great time to be a Wallace and Gromit fan.
