The sequel to last year’s action hit, Nobody, is moving ahead, with producer Kelly McCormick revealing that the studio is aiming to get cameras rolling on Nobody 2 next year. Starring Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk as an unlikely action man, fans have been waiting for updates on whether he will return for more fights on buses and gunfights with his dad.
Speaking with Collider, it sounds like McCormick and the rest of the cast and crew are eager to return for Nobody 2 and plan not just to make a good sequel but a great one. While plot details remain unknown, returning screenwriter Derek Kolstad has revealed that he already has the opening scene in mind. “Remember that the first scene in the movie? That is the first thing I ever pitched Bob, in the meeting, because I had the dream the night before,” he revealed about the first movie’s opening scene. “And I told Sonia, my wife, before the meeting, she said you gotta open with that. I pitched that and Bob’s like… ‘you’re f-ing high, right?’ And so, on the second one, I have the opening scene. And we’re all just chuckling and cackling when you see this thing because it’s in line with that. And I always want to begin that way.”
“We hope to make it [Nodoby 2’s production] next year, so fingers crossed. So our theory is you don’t need to make a good sequel just to make a sequel. We need to make a great sequel. And so it’s about making sure that we get it right. And if we do, I think there’s a lot of hope that we can go next year.”

The First Nobody Transforms Bob Odenkirk into an Action Hero
Universal Pictures
Released back in March last year, the first Nobody finds Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk as the seemingly mild-mannered Hutch Mansell. Hutch begins the movie as an underestimated and overlooked dad and husband, taking life’s indignities on the chin and never pushing back. In effect, a nobody. When two thieves break into his suburban home one night, Hutch declines to defend himself or his family, hoping to prevent serious violence. His teenage son, Blake, is disappointed in him, and his wife, Becca, seems to pull only further away.
But really, the aftermath of the incident strikes a match to Hutch’s long-simmering rage, triggering dormant instincts and propelling him on a brutal path that will surface dark secrets and lethal skills. In a barrage of fists, gunfire, and squealing tires, Hutch must face his violent past in order to save his family from a vengeful drug lord. Once the dust settles and the explosions stop, Hutch will certainly never be underestimated as a nobody again.
Directed by Ilya Naishuller and written by Derek Kolstad, Nobody stars Connie Nielsen, Aleksei Serebryakov, RZA, Michael Ironside, Colin Salmon, and Christopher Lloyd alongside Odenkirk. The movie was met with much applause from action movie fans, who loved its no-nonsense action and the against-type central performance from Bob Odenkirk.
Nobody is available to stream on Hulu and HBO Max. And it sounds like the franchise and Odenkirk’s assassin have a bright future ahead.
