Hey, folx, the world’s not going to end. Dan Harmon is getting to make his movie. Since 2014, fans of the series Community have been awaiting the fabled “six seasons and a movie.” A week ago, that dream finally became a reality. On September 30, 2022, NBCUniversal-owned streamer Peacock announced that it had ordered a Community movie after series creator Dan Harmon won the rights in a “competitive situation.” Today, Friday, October 7, 2022, during the ‘Dan Harmon Presents Krapopolis’ panel at New York Comic Con 2022, Harmon revealed some more details about the upcoming Community: The Movie.
Airing on NBC from September 17, 2009, to April 17, 2014, and on Yahoo! Screen from March 17 to June 2, 2015, Community is set at a fictional community college in Colorado, Greendale Community College. The sitcom starred an ensemble cast, including Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Ken Jeong, and Jim Rash, as well as two actors who have not been confirmed to return for the feature film (at least not yet) Donald Glover and Chevy Chase.

Although Glover has said he is open to returning, stating his interest in a Community movie during an online table read to raise money for COVID-19 relief, there has been no confirmation that the actor will appear. As for Chase, his return seems less likely, with Harmon saying during his Krapopolis panel at NYCC, “I don’t even know if it’s legal for Chevy to come back,” likely referring to Chase’s alleged misconduct on set that included racist remarks toward his costars.
Community: The Movie to be Co-Written with Andrew Guest
NBC
During NYCC 2022, Harmon also revealed that he would be co-writing Community: The Movie with the scribe of “Advanced Dungeons and Dragons.” Harmon said, “I am working with Andrew Guest. He was a great Community writer. He wrote the ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ episode. He is going to help me, so that I don’t pull a Harmon.”
In addition to his work on Community, Guest was also a writer on 30 Rock. For his work on the third season of the series, he was nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedic Series in February 2009. He was also recently involved in Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye, which premiered on Disney+ earlier this year, and has been hired as the head writer for the upcoming Wonder Man series.
Harmon still had no news on the director, saying, “We don’t have a director attached.”
