Star Wars has been a worldwide phenomenon ever since the 1970s, and it’s not going anywhere any time soon. Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi

     Lucasfilm

Reprising his iconic role as protagonist Obi-Wan yet again, Ewan McGregor is widely recognized for his nuanced acting style and appearances in several major films. You might know him as Mark from Trainspotting, Christian from Moulin Rouge, or John Grimes from Black Hawk Down. Some of his more recent roles include Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast back in 2017 as well as the jaded adult version of Christopher Robin in the 2018 film of the same name. Fun fact: Ewan McGregor is a longtime motorcycle enthusiast, and he paired up with fellow rider and best friend Charley Boorman in a cross-county docuseries for AppleTV+ called Long Way Up.

Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker

Hayden Christensen is easily recognizable as the Chosen One of the Star Wars universe, but he’s got formidable acting chops and a fantastic track record in film. After portraying Anakin in the prequels, Christensen continued to carve a name for himself by starring in films such as Jumper, Life as a House, Takers and First Kill. His portrayal of former journalist Stephen Glass in Shattered Glass earned him a Satellite Award nomination for Best Actor in 2003, and he recently confirmed his roles in both Obi-Wan Kenobi and the upcoming Ahsoka series on Disney+.

Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars

If you’re a veteran Star Wars fan, you probably remember Owen from A New Hope; he’s Luke’s overprotective uncle who strives to keep his nephew safe from a potentially dangerous life as a Jedi. Joel Edgerton played this character in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, but you might also recognize him from his appearances as Gawain on King Arthur or Will in The Secret Life of Us. Between American favorites like The Great Gatsby and Australian features like Animal Kingdom, Edgerton has received countless awards and nominations for his performances. He’s also an established theatrical actor and director.

Moses Ingram as the Third Sister

     Lucasfilm Ltd.

Steadily on the rise with an Emmy nomination already under her belt, Moses Ingram will be bringing Inquisitor Reva Sevander (The Third Sister) to life in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Before she was ever cast for the show, she flawlessly performed as Jolene in the Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit. Following this massive success, she took on the roles of Audre in The Same Storm and Lady Macduff in 2021’s The Tragedy of Macbeth. You can also catch her as Amy Sharp in Ambulance, the most recent high-stakes thriller in director Michael Bay’s archives.

Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor

     Lucasfilm / Disney

With the intense job of portraying the ruthless Grand Inquisitor on his shoulders, Rupert Friend’s official casting in Obi-Wan Kenobi is already garnering worldwide excitement. This renowned actor first made a name for himself as Downs in The Libertine and Mr. Wickham in Pride and Prejudice, and he went on to star in major works like The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Homeland. Between 2008 and 2010, he wrote, produced and directed two short award-winning short films.

He’s also appeared in a ton of comedic sketches on Portlandia, and he co-hosted The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail alongside fellow comedian Jonah Ray from 2014 to 2016.
