A new trailer has arrived for Freeridge to promote the show’s debut on Netflix. A spinoff of On My Block, the new series primarily follows a new core cast of characters and does not necessarily require viewers to have seen that previous show. With that said, there may be some interesting references and other nods to On My Block that fans of that show might observe. Freeridge is now streaming, and you can check out that new trailer below.

From the same creators of On My Block, Freeridge is developed by Lauren Iungerich, Jamie Uyeshiro, Eddie Gonzalez, Jeremy Haft, and Jamie Dooner. All also executive produce the series while Iungerich serves as showrunner.

The show stars Keyla Monterroso Mejia (Gloria), Bryana Salaz (Ines), Tenzing Norgay Trainor (Cam), Ciara Riley Wilson (Demi), and Peggy Blow in a new series regular role. Also featured are Michael Solomon, Zaire Adams, J.R. Villarreal and Jean Paul San Pedro with Paula Garcés, Eric Gutierrez, Eme Ikwuakor, and Raushanah Simmons reprising their roles from On My Block.

What this show also has in common with On My Block is that “both shows rely heavily on mystery to drive the story," while “both shows have series-long mythologies,” according to Iungerich. One major mystery introduced at the start is the appearance of Marisol “Abuelita” Martinez with Peggy Blow in the role, as this follows the death of Abuelita in On My Block season 4. But despite some similarities, the shows will also be quite different, starting with the new casts of characters.

“Fans should know that the new core four of Freeridge don’t step into the shoes of our original crew,” Iungerich has asid, via Tudum. “They step into their own shoes, right alongside the legacy of the kids who came before them. Through the lens of this new group of friends, we’ll see Freeridge as we know it and also explore a Freeridge we haven’t seen before. Where On My Block was driven by the boys, Freeridge is being driven by the girls.”
