Paramount+ has released the trailer for its upcoming family and action flick Secret Headquarters. The trailer reveals the Earth defender, played by Owen Wilson (Loki) is initially doing a good job of hiding his identity, as his son Charlie (Walker Scobell) believes his dad to be a wimp. All that changes after Wilson is called out on a mission and Charlie’s friends make a decision that leads them to discovering his “bat cave” hidden beneath the house and where all sorts of gadgets, suits and vehicles are stored.

Described as a “heartwarming and action-packed family superhero film, the official synopsis reads:

While hanging out after school, Charlie and his friends discover the headquarters of the world’s most powerful superhero hidden beneath his home. When villains attack, they must team up to defend the headquarters and save the world.

Wilson and Kids Have Fun in Iron Man-Light Film

Wilson may don an Iron Man-like suit, but after the kids try out his technological gadgets, they end up having to become superheroes when the secret headquarters of the world’s most powerful superhero comes under attack by villains. Eventually Charlie’s dad gets wind of what’s going on, and he’ll have to team up with his son and his friends to make sure that this tech, including an alien power source that chose him to be Earth’s guardian, doesn’t end up in the wrong hands. The Iron Man jokes and references are clear and are bound to attract MCU fans. Tanya Giles, chief programming officer, Paramount Streaming, said in a press release:

During a chat with Esquire, Wilson set the record straight about his knowledge of the MCU and the one Marvel character he took issue with:

“We have seen tremendous success with our high-quality kids and family content and are excited to add this special superhero movie to our growing slate of Paramount+ original films. Secret Headquarters is the perfect action-packed summer film for the whole family, making it a perfect fit for Paramount+ and our mountain of entertainment geared toward the whole household.”

Paramount+ premieres Secret Headquarters on August 12 in the U.S. and Canada and set to premiere in other territories later this year.

“…I don’t know a ton about it, but I know …. Actually, yeah, I probably don’t know that much about it. I kind of know about Iron Man. I’ve seen Aquaman. He’s swimming in jeans. No one can swim in jeans! That was my argument with the kids about Aquaman."
