After the legendary Paddington 2, details about the inevitable and highly anticipated Paddington 3 have emerged. The kindly and well-mannered bear will allegedly be going abroad in his next film, and the project’s new director has been confirmed. After the heartfelt sequel, we can again expect a lovely emotional rollercoaster as we live another day in the life of everybody’s favorite blue rain-coated bear!

Paddington 2 saw the bear grappling with what could have been a frightening prison and then hospital stint. Still, he made the most of his wrongful conviction in his most compassionate and empathetic Paddington ways by befriending his new companions and holding steadfast to his values.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

Paddington 2, which starred Ben Whishaw as the voice of the protagonist, Paddington Bear, Hugh Grant (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), and Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), is one of the most well-reviewed films and is widely beloved by its audiences and in popular culture.

Paddington Bear even sat down to partake of tea with the Queen on the anniversary of her 70 years on the throne this past June. We can think of no one more fitting to celebrate such a milestone with the Queen. He was also shown to captivate and wring tears from Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, in which Paddington 2 is a huge focal point for the main characters.

Here is everything we know about the third installation in the Paddington cinematic universe and why we are excited to see the sweet author bear back to it once again!

Paddington 3: The Plot

     StudioCanal

The film Paddington 3 will be titled Paddington in Peru and will presumably be a bit more emotionally laid-back than the last movie. Paddington originally hails from Peru, so while plot and casting details are yet to be released, we can expect that something occurs in Paddington’s life where he must go home for a spell. Perhaps he must visit relatives or address some business with some old friends.

It will surely have some gravitas and will be less harrowing than the sequel. Paddington was only ever a visitor in England, but we hope that, whatever is happening, he will not be leaving his life with the Brown family in England just yet. In any event, we are excited to see the sweet Paddington Bear reconnect with his roots!

Filming for Paddington 3 will not begin until 2023, and it will shoot in both London and Peru. It will be quite pleasant to see Paddington reacquaint himself with the culture of Peru, as well as to see a change in scenery for the bear, which is usually in rainy and foggy London and preoccupied with big city ways.

Paddington 3: The Cast & Crew

The movie will not be directed by Paul King, who was behind the first two movies, but rather by Dougal Wilson, who has Paul King’s full blessing to continue Paddington’s story with his own creative flair and style. Dougal Wilson has directed various eye-grabbing commercials, creative TV spots, and independent films with companies like Apple, AT&T, and IKEA, as well as the band Coldplay for some of their Life in Technicolor promotional videos.

Paul King said of the change in direction:

While we will miss King being on the job, we look forward to seeing what Wilson has in store for our adorable little furry friend!

Paddington 3 will be produced by StudioCanal, who has reaped the substantial box office rewards from the first two charming Paddington films, more specifically, by StudioCanal producers Anne Marsh and Ron Halpern. It will also be produced by David Heyman of Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore. StudioCanal is said to be very excited about Dougal Wilson’s creative direction for the film.

While King may not be directing, he did write the concept for the movie while the script was penned by Simon Farnaby, Mike Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont.

No casting decisions have been made yet, but we look forward to seeing who the project will draw into Paddington’s world. We are very excited to see what the team has in store for this long-awaited movie and can’t wait to see our polite and lovely Paddington suited up and ready for adventure once more!
