USA Today has posted nine new photos from the upcoming animated adventure, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, which comes to theaters on November 7. Click below to enlarge these new images from the film starring the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter, Alec Baldwin. Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has unveiled the trailer for his upcoming sci-fi short film, Night of the Cooters. Vincent D’Onofrio directs and stars in the film, which has been called a “labor of love” by Martin. Night of the Cooters is based on the eponymous 1987 short story by Howard Waldrop. The film was announced back in August when Martin announced in his blog that principal photography had wrapped and visual effects work was set to begin....

Pat Sajak is pulling for Alex Trebek to get the win for Outstanding Game Show Host at the Daytime Emmy Awards. Before he passed away in November following a battle with pancreatic cancer, Trebek continued to work as the host of Jeopardy! for as long as he could. His final run on the show has posthumously earned him a nomination at the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards this month. Though Sajak is also nominated for Wheel of Fortune, he feels that Trebek should get the award....

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured a handful of surprising cameos, including one character that hadn’t been seen on-screen since 2017. Patrick Stewart returned to the comic book world in the film, reprising his iconic role as Charles Xavier. The leader of the X-Men made his live-action debut all the way back in 2000, and Stewart portrayed Professor X in five different films for more than 15 years, including a few cameo appearances as well....

Pixar Animation Studios’ Brad Bird will direct Ratatouille, the computer-animated mouse tale that was developed in-house by the studio’s Oscar-winning short-film director Jan Pinkava (Geri’s Game). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deal was confirmed Friday at the Disney shareholders meeting in Anaheim. The story centers on a skinny rodent who fancies himself a gourmand and lives in a Parisian restaurant. A sneak peek of the film, with fully rendered CG characters, was introduced by John Lasseter and shown to attendees at Friday’s meeting....

The CW announced late Tuesday it will shut down the Kids’ WB! franchise at the end of this season and turn Saturday mornings over to 4Kids Entertainment, which has handled Fox’s Saturday morning kids block for the past six years. According to Variety, Warner Bros. TV Group president Bruce Rosenblum says that the company examined the Saturday morning issue “closely with our partners at CBS,” and ultimately decided leasing the space to 4Kids made the most business sense....

Pretty Little Liars did not escape a series of problematic storylines throughout its seven-season run. One of the continued red flags of the series found several adult men being romantically or sexually interested in the show’s central teenage girls. However, Pretty Little Liars did not actively do the work to suggest that was a problematic direction. Instead, one of its significant couples, Aria Montgomery and Ezra Fitz, is at the heart of the problem....

Last August, Fox confirmed that its hit series Prison Break is coming back with a new event series, debuting next year on Fox. And this time around, Anchor Bay pulls from the depths a story about a woman with a strange growth on the back of her neck. It expands exponentially, is comprised of flesh and bone–did I mention it has mind control powers? Yeah, it has mind control powers....

Regé-Jean Page may have gotten his big break on Netflix’s Bridgerton, but the English actor doesn’t care if his role is recast. Page, who played royal heartthrob Simon Basset (aka the Duke of Hastings), told Variety’s Marc Malkin that the showrunners are “free to do as they like.” “Shonda and I had a wonderful conversation at the end of Season 1. We were quite happy with how we stuck the landing on that one,” Page said, referring to Bridgerton’s executive producer Shonda Rhimes....

Rick and Morty has absolutely exploded in terms of popularity since debuting on Adult Swim back in 2013, but the show has had a very irregular airing schedule. There was a 17-month gap between season 1 and season 2 of Rick and Morty and there hasn’t been a new episode since October of 2015. Rick and Morty Season 3 is definitely coming but sadly, according to co-creator Dan Harmon, the new season still doesn’t have a premiere date....

Eclipse Magazine caught up with Ridley Scott, director of such seminal science fiction films as Blade Runner and Alien, and are happy to report that the director/producer has found the book that will bring him back to sci-fi: I waited for a book for 20 years and I have got the book. I am not going to tell you what the book is but that film is going to probably be written within the next month....

A big-screen, live-action version of Speed Racer is ready to begin, this time with Larry and Andy Wachowski behind the wheel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Wachowski brothers are writing and will direct the movie, which will be produced by Joel Silver. They are reuniting with several of the creative behind-the-scenes talent from the Matrix films, including executive producer Grant Hill and visual effects supervisor John Gaeta, who won an Oscar for his work on The Matrix....

The last two years have proven to be continually challenging for those in the movie and TV industry, whether due to Covid lockdowns, positive tests, or travel restrictions. Even when things seemed to be getting back to some kind of normality, filmmakers and actors have been forced to adjust their working practices. They have often found their work restricted through the need to wear masks, isolate or observe social distancing. Marvel Studios head of production Victoria Alonso recently broke down exactly how tough working through the pandemic has been for everyone involved in productions....

Progress is moving forward on a biopic series about silent film legend Buster Keaton. There has been word of Keaton getting the biopic treatment for a little while, including report from last year that James Mangold (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) would be producing and directing the project for 20th Century Studios. Meanwhile, Deadline now reports that Keaton’s life story will be told with a scripted biographical series at Warner Bros....

On Saturday we updated an earlier story with new information that Matthew Vaughn will not be directing X-Men: First Class and now it seems Vaughn might be back on the project after all. Deadline New York is reporting that Vaughn has come back into the picture and is finalizing a deal to direct X-Men: First Class. The site reports that Vaughn re-entered negotiations this morning and is working out a deal with the studio and his representation....
