The nomination comes as no surprise as Yeoh’s performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once earned her the Golden Globe Award and nominations from the BAFTAs, the Independent Spirit Awards and the SAG Awards. Historically, diversity has lacked in the Oscar’s Best Actress category. Per The Hollywood Reporter, just a dozen black women (Halle Berry earned the coveted award for her role in Monster’s Ball), four Latinas, and two Native American women have earned nominations in the category....

A “really good” script has been written for National Treasure 3, and it will be sent to Nicolas Cage without delay, according to producer Jerry Bruckheimer. In an interview with Comicbook.com, Bruckheimer revealed that, despite the upcoming Disney+ series National Treasure: Edge of History leading everyone to believe that any hope for Cage’s return was dead and buried forever, National Treasure 3 is being worked on as we speak. Released back in 2004 and directed by Jon Turteltaub with Jerry Bruckheimer producing, National Treasure introduces audiences to Nicolas Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates, a historian, cryptographer, and treasure hunter....

NBC has issued its first scripted series pickup for the 2010-11 season with the order of the drama Undercovers from acclaimed writer/producer/director J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Fringe, Lost, Alias) and executive producer/writer Josh Reims (Brothers and Sisters), it was announced today by Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios. “We have tremendous confidence in this promising series and feel this is a great way to kick off our upcoming Upfront development announcements,” said Jeff Gaspin, Chairman, NBC Universal Television Entertainment....

President Donald Trump’s proposed new branch of the military, Space Force, is being brought to the small screen courtesy of the folks at Netflix. The streaming service has tapped Steve Carell to star in the series, who will serve as co-creator alongside Greg Daniels, marking a reunion for the two who previously worked with one another on the hit sitcom The Office. Netflix has already given a straight-to-series order for the new show and they’ve even released a teaser trailer to help set the tone....

In addition to picking up Rise and For God and Country, NBC has also given the green light for Seth Myers’ new sitcom entitled A.P. Bio, which stars Glenn Howerton and Patton Oswalt. This news comes off of the previous announcement that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 13 will be delayed until 2019. Howerton has not yet said whether he will be returning to It’s Always Sunny and this could be one of the major indicators, as well as his frequent outside acting work, that he’ll not be returning....

/Film is reporting that Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn recently talked with BBC to promote his recent feature Valhalla Rising, and also mentioned what film he’s always wanted to do: Wonder Woman. “After Valhalla Rising I thought the most surprising thing for me would be to go to Los Angeles and do a studio movie. Coming from a movie where I had complete control - I also own the movie - and had complete, kind of like, accessibility around me, and then going to Hollywood and doing a film within the studio, which is very much the opposite, I thought could be a very interesting experience for me....

For fans of Robert Kirkman’s comic book series, The Walking Dead on AMC has been a source of both extreme joy and maddening frustration. The source material is a wellspring of horror and drama and, in many ways, the show has conveyed the emotion of Kirkman’s ongoing saga exquisitely. On the other hand, the pacing is (at times) tedious and the series has drifted incredibly far from the source material. Last month at Comic-Con, ABC released a teaser video for Season 2 of Once Upon a Time, that revealed Captain Hook will be showing up this season. Today, we know who will be playing the pirate captain, with the news that Colin O’Donoghue has joined the cast. The character will make its debut during the fourth episode of Once Upon a Time Season 2, although it isn’t known how many episodes he will be appearing in....

Earlier today, Netflix held a special presentation at Hudson Mercantile in New York, where the streaming service provided a first look at some of the new original content coming this year that may appear in a “Recommended for You” row sometime soon. PETA wants answers after a horse died on the set of The Gilded Age. The org, which is an acronym for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, issued an open letter to HBO Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys about the animals on-set death calling for an internal investigation. PETA alleges that the news of the horse’s death may not have been made public if not for the “whistleblowers” involved....
