While rumors have swirled around that Microsoft may considere implementing a Blu-Ray drive for its XBox 360 gaming console, a Microsoft executive recently put those rumors down for good. According to Home Media Magazine, Microsoft Games Studio head Michael Kim said there are no plans to add a BD drive to its popular gaming console. “I know Blu-ray provides some visual boost for people who want a physical HD format, but we’re not seeing that format taking off, in general,” Kim said....

Having earned just under $300 million worldwide so far, Minions: The Rise of Gru has taken the total earnings for the Despicable Me franchise to over $4 billion worldwide. The young monsters will be going back to school as Nickelodeon has officially renewed the new animated series adaptation of Monster High. After premiering in October, just in time for the spooky holiday season, the series has scored this renewal ahead of the first season’s finale on Dec. 1. Per Deadline, season 2 will consist of 20 new episodes, and the second season has been described as delving further into character backgrounds and “continue expanding on the theme of friendship....

As the network announced in January, MSNBC will telecast the first debates of the 2008 presidential campaign season. NBC Nightly News Anchor and Managing Editor Brian Williams will moderate the South Carolina Democratic Party’s debate on April 26th. MSNBC Election Anchor Chris Matthews will moderate the Reagan Library’s GOP debate on May 3rd, in partnership with politico.com. The South Carolina Democratic Party has announced that Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama, and Bill Richardson are all confirmed to participate in the debate on April 26th....

NBC unveiled today a strong lineup of broad and diverse quality programming for the 2009-2010 television season announcing the pickups of six new series featuring four new dramas including Trauma, Parenthood, Mercy and the event series Day One, as well as two new comedies including Community and 100 Questions. It’s been a rough year for Netflix animation. Despite the streaming service excelling at original animated content, and saving Nimona from limbo, they’ve come under heavy criticism for canceling multiple projects at once and laying off employees. The scary movie Orphan came out 13 years ago, but this tale of a seemingly innocent little girl in a dress killing her father with multiple stab wounds still lives very vividly in the audience’s mind. It’s haunting enough that even all these years later, a prequel is highly anticipated. The movie surprised everyone with its incredible atmosphere and terrifying plot twists, and though Orphan received some mixed reviews from critics, it is considered a modern horror staple by fans....

Focus Features and Laika, the two companies behind the Academy Award-nominated animated feature Coraline are reteaming for Laika’s next two projects. The first of the duo, ParaNorman, will be released nationwide on August 17th, 2012. The second, yet-to-be-named, picture will be released nationwide in 2014. Following the groundbreaking Coraline, ParaNorman is only the second stop-motion animated feature to be made in 3D. The Good Another solid season of this uncompromising show. The Bad I would have liked a commentary track on a few of these episodes from Denis Leary. Last month we reported that Robert De Niro would return for a sequel to one of his 80s classics and now we know a bit more about the film. MTV Movies Blog recently caught up with De Niro who revealed that in the upcoming Untitled Midnight Run Sequel his character, Jack Walsh, would be interacting with the son of Charles Grodin’s character, Jonathan “The Duke” Mardukas. Our original reported noted that Grodin would likely not return, and the site couldn’t confirm whether or not Grodin would return....

Lindsay Lohan is back to making movies, courtesy of Netflix. Previously, it had been announced by the streamer that Lohan would star in the holiday rom-com Falling for Christmas, marking her return to starring in feature films. On Tuesday, Deadline reported that Lohan signed a new 2-picture deal with Netflix to star in an additional two films, meaning no less than three features with the Mean Girls star in the lead are on their way to the streaming service....
