MTV News has learned that actor Matt Frewer – best known as the stuttering, sarcastic, 80’s icon Max Headroom – has joined the cast of Zack Snyder’s Watchmen. The 49-year-old actor will suit up as Moloch the Mystic, a satanic super villain and magician. The character is noted for his devilish appearance, which includes elfish, pointed ears. A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the “Doomsday Clock” - which charts the USA’s tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight....

The Good A great show that presents the military in a very light hearted manner. The Bad A paltry amount of extras. Come on, Shout! Factory! McHale’s Navy: Season Two gives fans of this show 36 episodes with which they can laugh along with McHale and his men. Stationed on the island of Taratupa during World War II, the men of PT-73 are led by Quinton McHale (Ernest Borgnine) and Ensign Parker (Tim Conway)....

Microsoft is going the way of Toshiba. According to DVD Town, Microsoft has announced that it will no longer carry the HD DVD add-on for their XBox 360 gaming console. Here’s the official statement from the company: “As a result of recent decisions made by Toshiba, Hollywood studios, and retailers, Microsoft plans to withdraw from HD DVD. Xbox will no longer manufacture new HD DVD players for the Xbox 360, but we will continue to provide standard product and warranty support for all Xbox 360 HD DVD Players in the market....

Stieg Larsson is the journalist and activist responsible for the best-selling Millennium trilogy of crime novels, which were published in 2005 after Larsson’s death in 2004. In 2008, Larsson became one of best-selling fiction authors thanks to the English translation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest becoming the bestselling books in 2010. A Moon Knight sizzle reel gives us our first look at Oscar Isaac as the Marvel vigilante, Moon Knight. Released exclusively to Disney+ (at least for now), the clip provides a sneak peek at the upcoming comic book outing, and even gives us a glimpse of Isaac all suited up as the titular character, leaping across the rooftops at the dead of night. MTV will be developing a new slate of films. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, the company is looking make some Ferris Bueller’s Day Off-styled films that will first air on MTV. They will “be partly financed by a separate DVD release; MTV would supervise the release of the pics under an as-yet-unnamed banner.” In fact, should the movies do well either on TV or DVD (or both), they might even open theatrically....

Last month, Starz announced a “script to series development deal” for the new TV series American Gods, based on Neil Gaiman’s critically-acclaimed fantasy novel of the same name. The book is set in a world engulfed in war between traditional gods from religion and mythology and new gods that reflect the current society’s love of money, technology, celebrity and drugs. The story centers around two main characters, the messenger Shadow and one of the American Gods dubbed Wednesday....

The Impossible and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom director, J. A. Bayona, has found his next project: a real-life disaster movie, Society of the Snow. Netflix is producing the Spanish-language film based on the book La Sociedad de la Nieve by Uruguayan author and journalist Pablo Vierci. Society of the Snow will recount the 1972 Andes plane crash involving Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, carrying 45 people. The incident left 11 people dead and 34 others stranded in the freezing Andes mountains....

The excitement surrounding The CW’s latest addition to its DC Super Hero lineup was electrifying at Warner Bros. Television’s Black Lightning Comic-Con 2017 panel Saturday, July 22, as fans learned that two new characters will enter the beleaguered community where local hero Jefferson Pierce secretly fights crime as masked vigilante Black Lightning. Executive producers Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil announced at the session that James Remar and Damon Gupton will light up the screen as two new series regulars when Black Lightning premieres midseason on The CW....

Warner Home Video has announced that a new combo release featuring Batman Beyond - Return of the Joker and Batman: The Mystery of the Batwoman. According to World’s Finest Online the double-sided DVD will contain the same bonus materials found on previous releases of the two films. The Avatar finally awakens after his life-threatening battle at Ba Sing Se to find that he has a full head of hair and a burning desire to finally defeat the Firelord. Apple has purchased the rights to the beloved Peanuts characters. Snoopy, Woodstock, Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Spike, and more are all going on new adventures in the near future. Snoopy is even going to explore space and work with NASA, which is pretty awesome. Apple is partnering with DHX Media to bring Charles Schulz’s characters to life in a variety of ways, right before the 2020 70th anniversary of the original comic strip....

Principal photography is underway on the romantic drama Nights in Rodanthe, under the direction of George C. Wolfe (Lackawanna Blues). Shooting on location in Rodanthe, North Carolina, the film marks the screen reunion for Golden Globe Award winner Richard Gere (Chicago) and Diane Lane, who were previously paired in the 2002 thriller Unfaithful, for which Lane earned an Oscar nomination. In Nights in Rodanthe, Lane stars as Adrienne Willis, a woman with her life in chaos, who retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend’s inn for the weekend....
