The worldwide box office numbers for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End actually turned out to be more than originally thought. According to Variety, there was at least $6 million worth of ticket sales that didn’t get counted during the original tally. In all, the latest in the Pirates franchise has earned close to $404 million in just six days. On the reverse side of that delightful news, the domestic box office numbers actually went down from what was originally reported....

The depiction of an outbreak has been seen time and time again on the big screen in a variety of movies about pandemics and viruses. Audiences have seen the more fantastical depictions of zombified contagion, versus the more serious and realistic interpretations of viral epidemic stories. However, the small indie horror flick from 2008 entitled Pontypool gives audiences something new. Taking place in primarily one location, the outbreak supposedly happening in the film surrounds the characters who are stuck inside a radio studio....

The Good The look of this show is really well done. The Bad Overall, I just don’t find the premise of this show to be that believable. So I am watching Prison Break: Season 1 and suddenly, about 30 minutes into the first episode, I realized that I was going to have a hard time with this show. Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) has been put in jail under very unjust circumstances....

For the first time in 46 years, fans will not hear the famous catchphrase, “Bond, James Bond.” According to The Independent, Quantum of Solace might have martinis, but they won’t be “shaken not stirred”. Mark Forster explains, “There was a ‘Bond, James Bond’ in the script. There are several places where we shot it as well, but it never worked as we hoped. I just felt we should cut it out, and Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson (the film’s producers) agreed, and Daniel (Craig, who plays Bond) agreed, too....

It’s going to be just one season for the new comedy series Reboot, at least at Hulu. Deadline reports that the sitcom has been axed by the streaming platform with no plans to make a second season. This follows the show previously premiering on Hulu in September before concluding its 8-episode freshman season in October. It’s unclear as to exactly why the show was canceled, as it had debuted to high viewership with its reviews more on the positive side with an 85% approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes....

Rich Ross, President of Disney Channels Worldwide, has been named Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, it was announced today by Disney President and CEO Robert A. Iger. Ross will oversee worldwide production, distribution and marketing for the company’s range of live-action and feature animated film labels, including Walt Disney, Touchstone, Miramax and Disney/Pixar. In his new role, which he assumes immediately, he will also head Disney’s theatrical and music groups....

The next comedy special from Ricky Gervais just might be his last. The famous comedian, who’s never been one to hold back on stage, opened up about his next special in a chat with Heat magazine. Perhaps appropriately called Armageddon, the special will have Gervais pushing the boundaries of what can be joked about to such an extent that he’s not only expecting to generate tremendous backlash, he’s embracing it....

Lionsgate, the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, announced today that it is working with Apple to provide Digital Copy for iTunes, affording customers who purchase select DVDs with an additional iTunes Digital Copy of the movie. Just like movies purchased from the iTunes Store, an iTunes Digital Copy can effortlessly be transferred to iTunes and then viewed on a PC or Mac, iPod with video, iPhone or on widescreen television with Apple TV....

Our first look at the Loki Disney+ series has been revealed. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige presented Walt Disney investors with the very first concept art for the highly anticipated series over the weekend, which brings Tom Hiddleston back as the God of Mischief. Marvel Cinematic Universe fans were pretty bummed to see Loki die at the beginning of Infinity War at the hands of Thanos. However, things were given a better spin in Avengers: Endgame when he appeared again during the Battle of New York and mischievously escaped....

ABC will be bringing star power to Comic-Con 2013, with its returning fan favorite Once Upon a Time, as well as two new highly anticipated series debuting this fall, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. On Friday, July 19, Marvel Television will introduce fans to their first live action television epic with their new ABC series, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., featuring a panel with executive producer Joss Whedon and Marvel’s Head of Television and series executive producer Jeph Loeb....

There are times when mistakes can be made, and other times when those mistakes are entirely intentional knowing the kind of response that will come on the back of it. One such occurrence seemed to happen this morning, when Marvel UK joined thousands of fans in wishing a certain Keanu Reeves a happy 57th birthday. The Scooby-Doo reboot series Velma has arrived on HBO Max. Imagining a new origin story for Velma Dinkley, the brainiest member of Mystery Inc., the series features Mindy Kaling voicing a South Asian incarnation of the character investigating a murdery mystery surrounding her school. While Scooby-Doo himself isn’t included in any capacity, the series also features reimagined versions of the other members of Mystery Inc., with Glenn Howerton as Fred Jones, Sam Richardson as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, and Constance Wu as Daphne Blake....

During its run on NBC, the American version of The Office had achieved great success, garnering a slew of prestigious awards in addition to high viewership and widespread acclaim. While the show ended in 2013 following nine seasons, it has maintaind its popularity over the past decade thanks in part to its availability on streaming services. It’s a show that many fans continuously rewatch on its current home at Peacock, but even with how popular The Office remains on streaming, there are some who feel the show wouldn’t survive if it were to have premiered in 2022, given how much times have changed....
