Viral website marketing worked out great for Warner Brothers with The Dark Knight, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see viral websites for Watchmen. The first of these sites has just appeared, and seems to be a website for one of the magazines featured in the fictional world of the Watchmen - The New Frontiersman. In the comics, The New Frontiersman is the preferred magazine of conspiracy-theory obsessed Rorschach. He refers to the magazine repeatedly in the graphic novel, and sends his journal to the magazine to be published in the case of his possible death....

The long-awaited animated adaptation of Bone, the beloved comic by Jeff Smith, has reportedly been scrapped at Netflix. According to a report at The Wrap, the long-gestating series, which was first announced back in the halcyon pre-pandemic days of 2019, is one of “several high profile projects” that have been “unceremoniously” canceled by the streaming service. The news has generated plenty of disappointment from fans of the comic, which was first released in 1991 and has gained many fans in the interim....

Occupant Films is set to produce filmmaker Peter Himmelstein’s comedy Peep World, a script he penned which was selected for the Sundance Directors Lab in 2004. Himmelstein will direct the film. Peep World marks Himmelstein’s second collaboration with Occupant Films having recently completed The Key Man which he also wrote and directed. Peep World is set to start production in summer, 2007. Occupant Films is led by producers Keith Calder, Felipe Marino and Joe Neurauter....

It’s been nearly a year since we last saw the King of Monsters battle it out against the former ruler of Skull Island in the highly-anticipated film Godzilla vs. Kong. Fortunately, just moments ago, the official Godzilla Twitter account is now teasing at something that might be getting announced very soon. The 94th Academy Awards saw an increase in viewership after plummeting to an all-time low in 2021, but the show will still go down as the second least-watched Oscar ceremony in history. According to Nielsen’s fast national ratings, Sunday night’s telecast of the Oscars on ABC drew 15.36 million viewers and a 3.2 rating among adults aged 18-49. While this is a 56% increase over last year’s dismal 9.85 million viewers, the downward spiral of the Oscars continues....

Director Paul Verhoeven has lined up his latest movie project with Eternal, according to Deadline New York. David Loughery (Obsessed) wrote the script based on his own pitch to Sidney Kimmell Entertainment, with Richard D’Ovidio (Exit Wounds) rewriting the project. The movie centers on a married man who is a recovering alcoholic who finds himself helping a woman down from jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. After he sleeps with her, he thinks he’s busted by his wife when an investigator presents some photos, although they turn out to be of him drinking alone....

A flood of new details on Woody Allen’s mysterious new film project has come from an unlikely source: Woody Allen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Allen has revealed the full cast and the title of his new film, Midnight in Paris. We reported last month that Oscar winner Marion Cotillard had joined the cast alongside Owen Wilson. Now Allen has revealed the full cast which includes Rachel McAdams, Michael Sheen, Kathy Bates, Nina Arianda, Tom Hiddleston, Corey Stoll, Mimi Kennedy and Kurt Fuller....

Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon is back with another rom-com flick alongside Ashton Kutcher. Often dubbed America’s Sweetheart, Reese rose to prominence by starring in numerous rom-com films. These past few weeks have been hectic weeks of travel, but I still got a fair amount of TV in, so now, sitting on a plane ride home from Costa Rica at the end of my journey I start my rant. Two weeks ago I headed to home sweet home for Thanksgiving as most Americans do, only to be reminded that it’s not always sunny in Philadelphia. My ride from the airport was basically a rainy version of the opening credits of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia minus the shot of Market Street....

Netflix is soon saying farewell to Locke & Key. Deadline reports that the supernatural thriller series, based on the original IDW comic book series from Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, will end with its upcoming third season, expected to hit Netflix sometime this year. This is not a surprise cancelation, as this had reportedly been the plan before the third season was developed, allowing for the writers to build to a proper conclusion....

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen producer Lorenzo di Bonaventure has acquired the screen rights to Joey Aucoin’s upcoming comic book series Lions, Tigers, and Bears. According to Variety, the film will be produced through Paramount Pictures. The film will be told through the eyes of an adult reminiscing about his childhood. The story revolves around a team of stuffed animals that come to life at night and engage in bedroom warfare....

It was Liam Neeson’s role in Taken that many people credit as marking a dramatic shift in action movie stardom. At the time, the 56-year-old seemed unlikely to launch a major action franchise, and everyone was surprised with how much it rubbed off on the cultural canvas, with additional older men taking on action movies, from Keanu Reeves to Bob Odenkirk. However, it really wasn’t a big deal. Older men have headlined action movies since there were action movies — Roger Moore was 57 in View to a Kill, Sean Connery was 66 in The Rock, and even Daniel Craig was 53 when No Time to Die was released, just looking at actors who’ve played James Bond....

Masters of the Universe fans have been given plenty of hope for a new live-action movie finally coming to screen thanks to Netflix, but Mattel is celebrating the Dolph Lundgren-led original foray of He-Man onto the big screen with a new toy range. Fans of the 1987 movie will soon be able to get their hands on movie versions of Lundgren’s He-Man and Frank Langella’s Skeletor without it breaking the bank....

Fans of the series about the Victorian era lady detective and her Scotland Yard inspector (beau)friend, William “the Duke” Wellington immediately took to Twitter after receiving some exciting news on Thursday. Not only has Miss Scarlet and the Duke gotten a greenlight for a season 3, but this third installment airs in the U.S. come January 2023 following the premiere of season 2 in October. The delay in green-lighting a second season (and Masterpiece stepping in to become a lead producer on the project) meant Season 2 was not ready for the winter slot this past year....
