The Nazis are back in Indiana Jones 5, with Mads Mikkelsen looking every bit the part in new images of his villain. Mikkelsen will play Voller, a Nazi who Indiana Jones will be going up against in a race to claim something that could be used to “make the world a better place.” Exactly how a former Nazi would make the world a better place is something that has dark connotations, and is clearly a reason why Indy wants to stop Voller achieving his goal....

When Black Panther debuted back in 2018, it brought a different kind of Marvel movie to the world. As well as becoming one of the highest-rated projects in the MCU and one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, the film also managed to do the impossible by gaining a number of Oscar nominations in big categories. Now, Marvel is returning to Wakanda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and according to one Marvel executive, the movie is similar to The Godfather in a number of ways....

Even being too skinny is a problem for some directors, including Michael Bay. According to Fox News, Megan Fox was asked to put on 10 pounds in three weeks to reprise her role as Mikaela in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. She had dropped the pounds while shooting her new film, “Jennifer’s Body”. “I should have toned up for Transformers but I’m really lazy. I had to put on weight,” she said....

The “window wars” continue to heat up between the studios and theater owners. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Sony’s attempt to release Michael Jackson’s This Is It for a holiday DVD release was thwarted by the National Association of Theater Owners (NATO). NATO argued that the DVD/BD release would be too close to the film’s premiere, despite the fact that the film was only being released in theaters for a two-week limited engagement, although it has been rumored that the run might be lengthened or that the film will be re-released in theaters at a later date....

Variety reports that Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore are currently in negotiations to star in the English-language remake of L.O.L.: Laughing Out Loud. Mandate International is taking care of international sales on the project, which original director Lisa Azuelos-Alessandrin is going to write and direct. Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Double Feature Films will be producing. L.O.L.: Laughing Out Loud follows a 15-year-old girl that gets dumped by her more sexually experienced boyfriend....

There was no one else who could tackle the role. No. Not Eddie Murphy. Not Tracy Morgan. Only Morgan Freeman could fill the shoes of former South African President Nelson Mandela. According to Variety, the classically trained thespian will be starring as the once great leader in an adaptation of John Carlin’s book The Human Factor: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Changed the World. The film will take place after the fall of apartheid, around the time that South Africa hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup....

Mufasa: The Lion King was officially announced at D23 2022. We all knew a prequel to The Lion King entered into production sometime in 2020, but now it seems the movie has found its footing as Barry Jenkins takes the reins of Mufasa. The Oscar-winning director is excited to shape the story of Simba’s father as we watch him become king of the pride lands. The announcement at D23 had audiences looking at the official title as well as a bit of preview footage which only gave a few fun facts away....

A trailer for the upcoming Netflix event, Geeked Week 2022, reveals new footage from all manner of movies and shows set for release on the streaming platform, including The Sandman, Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy, The Gray Man, and much, much more. Released via Twitter, the trailer offers a whole host of previously unseen material, with Geeked Week itself promising even more surprises. Netflix has set its next venture into the world of workplace comedy with a seemingly unconventional subject. The new series Blockbuster will explore the lives of the employees of the last remaining Blockbuster Video store in the United States. Netflix Inc. announced today it is launching new unlimited DVD-only plans in the U.S. at their lowest price ever- only $7.99 a month for the 1 DVD out at-a-time plan and $11.99 a month for the 2 DVDs out at-a-time plan. New members can sign up for these plans by going to DVD.Netflix.com. Netflix also announced it is separating its unlimited streaming and unlimited DVD plans in the U.S. to better reflect the costs of each and to give members a choice: a streaming-only plan, a DVD-only plan or the option to subscribe to both....

Yesterday we reported that an animated Star Wars series was being readied and today comes news of the live-action series that has been kicking around for a few years. |The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Untitled Star Wars Series is still in the scripting stage, and that a production date won’t be set until all of the first season scripts have been finished. We also reported last March that casting had begun on the series, but it seems that they won’t even start casting until the scripts are completed either....

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has brought Deborah Chow on board to direct. Chow previously directed episodes of the upcoming Star Wars live-action series The Mandalorian. It isn’t clear at this time if she will direct the entire series or if they will be choosing other directors for other episodes. Netflix has debuted the first trailer for their new original series House of Cards. We reported last month that all 13 episodes will be available for Nextflix streaming subscribers starting February 1, 2013.
