AMC and Lionsgate today announced the return of the iconic series Mad Men for seasons five and six with series creator Matthew Weiner back on board as showrunner. Concurrently, it was announced that Weiner has signed a new long-term deal with Lionsgate, extending into a possible seventh season. The announcements were made by Charlie Collier, president of AMC, and Kevin L. Beggs, president of Lionsgate Television Group. The roadmap for the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been complicated. Media Rights Capital plans to finance eight films for an estimated $250 million. According to Variety, the directors of those films include Robert Rodriguez, Ricky Gervais, Walter Salles, Ryan Murphy, Richard Kelly, Bennett Miller and Todd Field. Studios are racing to get their films produced before the impending strike in June, which will cause a major work stoppage. MCR plans to have all eight of their films finished before that time next year....

Mike Epps will have the challenging task of portraying comedy legend Richard Pryor in HBO’s upcoming live-action series about the rise of the L.A. Lakers. Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Adam McKay (The Big Short, Vice), the untitled drama series is based on Jeff Pearlman’s book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980’s.
