It is only a few days since The Sandman was granted a second season on Netflix, and author Neil Gaiman has been fending off casting suggestions for the role of Delirium ever since. Via his Twitter account, Gaiman politely asked people to stop contacting him about potentially being cast in the role after getting “deluged” by requests. Almost three months after The Sandman debuted on Netflix, the streamer finally announced that the second season will be heading into production soon, and that means new stories and new characters, which has led to a flurry of activity on Gaiman’s social media....

Netflix is adding yet another original movie to their long list of praiseworthy movies. The star-studded original Spiderhead is scheduled to be released on the streaming service in the near future. The film has an interesting storyline, enabling it to be labeled as a movie that puts together the unlikely genre duo of thriller and comedy. Netflix has also listed Spiderhead as belonging to the sci-fi category. The film is set to carry a high-profile cast, with many who have previously starred in noteworthy movies....

One of the most interesting shows to release on Netflix this year is the Turkish sci-fi series Yakamoz S-245. The series is a spin-off of Polish author Jacek Dukaj’s digital novel The Old Axolotl (2015), in which all biological life has been eradicated from Earth, and only robots, many with digitized human consciousnesses, remain. The novel is full of brilliant innovations stemming from the digital format, including numerous illustrations, videos, and a deeply layered use of hypertext....

Night Court is getting rebooted at NBC. Just under three decades after the original show finished its run, the network has officially put in a pilot order for a sequel series. The confirmation of the pilot order follows a previous report in December that the Night Court reboot was happening. While there are many other shows in the works for NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock, the plan is for the Night Court reboot is for it to be broadcast on NBC....

According to Variety, Lux Digital Pictures, a new German film company, is reanimating the dead in its first feature production, a 3-D remake of Night of the Living Dead, and resurrecting the possibility of private equity investment following the demise of film funds. The Berlin-based Lux Digital partnered with the pic’s producer-director Jeff Broadstreet, coming on board to completely finance Night of the Living Dead 3-D. Producers describe the film as “a homage” to George Romero’s 1968 zombie classic – a title that is in the public domain....

Twentieth Century Fox is holding an online casting call to find a bright, precocious and appealing young actor, age 10-13, for the lead role of Greg Heffley in the film version of the New York Times bestseller, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The character of Greg Heffley is slight, physically unprepossessing, and not overly cute or precocious....

Our Flag Means Death is a period comedy series created by David Jenkins for HBO Max. Starring Taika Waititi, Rhys Darby, Ewen Bremner, and Joel Fry, among others, the series is set during the Golden Age of Piracy. It follows the adventures — and misadventures, for that matter — of a pirate crew aboard a ship called the Revenge as they cross paths with the famous Blackbeard. When Our Flag Means Death debuted earlier this year, audiences were more or less surprised with what was in store for them throughout season 1....

New episodes are now in development for Our Flag Means Death. Created by David Jenkins, the first season of the period comedy series premiered on HBO Max back in March. After spending a few months on the bubble, it was officially renewed in June, and it has since been revealed that new episodes are planned for a 2023 arrival on HBO Max. This was obviously good news for fans who were concerned that the show may not get renewed and had been campaigning for it to happen....

Netflix has renewed the original series Ozark for Season 2, with 10 new episodes. No production schedule was given for Ozark Season 2, which will bring back stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as the Byrde family. While no premiere date has been announced yet, it seems likely that the new season will debut sometime in the summer of 2018. This renewal won’t affect Jason Bateman’s other Netflix series, Arrested Development, since production is beginning this week on the long-awaited fifth season....

NBC is securing its comedy lineup by renewing Parks and Recreation for Season 5 and picking up second seasons of the freshman comedies Up All Night and Whitney. Parks and Recreation received a full 22-episode order for its fifth season, unlike the renewed Thursday night comedies Community and 30 Rock, which only received 13 episodes apiece. Up All Night was also given a 13-episode season order, although it isn’t known how many episodes Whitney will receive....

Many fans, especially those who’ve been with the franchise since its first film in 2003, find it impossible to imagine a Pirates of the Caribbean movie without the iconic Jack Sparrow. However, it appears that Jack Sparrow’s days on the franchise are done as it has been reported that Johnny Depp will not be returning for Pirates of the Caribbean 6. The franchise is one of Disney’s most successful, and Captain Jack Sparrow was a central character who ensured the loyalty of fans and the success of the franchise....

In a story from Variety, Nick Wechsler, Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz have put up their own money to pick the screen rights to Stephanie Meyer’s The Host. Meyer is the author of the Twilight series. Andrew Niccol (Gattaca) is going to write and direct this project. The Host takes place on Earth and is set in the near future. It is “been assimilated by an alien species of benevolent parasites that call themselves ‘Souls....

With all the focus on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it’s easy to forget that Fox has plans for a second Origins film as well, X-Men Origins: Magneto. Well, we may have forgotten, but Fox has not, and neither have the folks at The Geek Files, who uncovered the official synopsis of the film in the trade magazine Production Weekly. The synopsis reads: David Goyer is set to direct, and has already handed Fox an early draft for the film....

Sony is entering a new realm of Blu-ray with the TV on DVD market. In a story from Home Media Magazine, they report that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing Rescue Me: The Complete Third Season on Blu-ray disc June 5. This release in Blu-ray marks “the first series to utilize the format’s 50GB capacity, allowing Sony to fully present all the available bonus materials in addition to HD picture quality....
