Marvel’s Helstrom has been canceled by Hulu after just one season. While Marvel fans may be upset, the move isn’t exactly surprising. Helstrom was developed and produced by the now-defunct Marvel Television, which is not part of Marvel Studios’ exclusive TV deal with Disney+. Now that the show has been canceled, it leaves the upcoming animated series M.O.D.O.K. with Patton Oswalt as the last Marvel TV series outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Hulu....
Marvel will release a three issue lead-in comic book miniseries for Marvel’s The Avengers titled Black Widow Strikes that revolves around Scarlett Johansson’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Natasha Romanov, timed to the May release of the movie in theaters. The story finds Black Widow heading to Russia to deal with an international crisis. Taika Waititi is partnering up with Netflix for two Charlie and the Chocolate Factory projects. Each one will be an animated series, which Waititi will write, direct, and executive produce. The first of the announced projects takes place within the world of Roald Dahl’s classic 1964 novel. The second is an original idea that will focus on the Oompa-Loompas, which will build out their world. As for when we might be able to see these shows, that’s unclear at the moment....
When The Walking Dead returns for its Season 8 mid-season premiere on Sunday, February 25 at 8 PM ET, that date coincides with the PyeongChang Winter Olympics 2018 closing ceremonies, airing live on NBC from Pyeongchang, South Korea. Everybody’s favorite Tom Clancy character, Jack Ryan, is coming to Blu-Ray in two separate releases. Patriot Games Special Collector’s Edition and Sum of All Fears will be released on Blu-Ray on July 29. Shepperton’s famed Pinewood Studios, home of James Bond and Harry Potter, is expanding its reach into the Latin American market by opening an outpost in the Dominican Republic. Called the Pinewood Indomina Studios, this new franchise will be up and running within two years’ time. Vicini’s film distribution firm Indomina Group is financing the project, upon which Dominican Republic president Leonel Antonio Fernandez Reyna broke ground this past Wednesday. The site will stretch for thirty-five acres, and include a giant water tank for filming exterior ocean scenes....

The success of Predator prequel Prey was sealed when the movie delivered the best reviews of the entire franchise and saw initial viewing numbers blowing away all expectations. Now the latest figures have revealed that the film has continued to expand its viewership, and managed to pass the huge milestone of 1 billion streamed minutes according to new figures released by Neilsen. Despite plenty of negativity about the movie before even a single bit of footage had been released, the arrival of Prey on Hulu instantly stripped away the doubts about whether a Predator movie under the control of Disney could stand up with the other movies in the franchise....
I went into the screening of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with fairly mixed expectations. Sure, I enjoyed the trailers, but at the same time it had the same fairly-corny look and dialogue of many Jerry Bruckheimer films and, the fact that it was a video game adaptation, a genre that has far from thrived in its short existence, did not help matters much either. Of course, this isn’t an Uwe Boll film, but the fact of the matter is there just hasn’t been a successful video game adaptation since Tomb Raider… if you can call that “successful....
Not to be confused with Mario Van Peebles’ masterpiece of the same name, Solo is a dark drama with comedic elements from executive producers Ted Hope and Anne Carey of This Is That Productions. According to The Hollywood Reporter, acclaimed writer-director Ramin Bahrani is the man behind the project. The film will revolve around the friendship between Solo, a Senegalese cab driver, and William, a cranky senior citizen. Red West, of Elvis Presley’s “Memphis Mafia”, will play William, marking his first-ever starring role in a film....
