Movie Picture Blood Trails is an excellent lesson in judging a book by its cover, or rather, why you shouldn’t engage in just such practices. Sure, they’ve got these bloody gear/sawblade things on the cover art and the first minute of footage just screams “torture porn!” at the top of its merry little lungs, but when you wear past this less than auspicious beginning, what you’re left with is a halfway decent package....

Marvel Comics has just signed a deal to bring The Black Panther onto the airwaves, in the form of a primetime animated series for BET. According to Variety the announcement was made at BETs upfront presentation as the highlight of a batch of new series being created for the 2008-09 season. In the comics, The Black Panther is actually T’Challa, the king of the African nation of Wakanda. T’Challa is mystically linked to the Black Panther totem, which enhances his strength, agility and senses to superhuman levels....
Maxine is set to return to the big screen to follow her dreams as an actress. X franchise filmmaker Ti West has confirmed that he will soon release the follow-up film to this year’s horror film X and its prequel Pearl, appropriately titled MaXXXine. The project was officially announced at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival in September by West and production company A24 after a showing of Pearl revealing a post-credit teaser for MaXXXine....

The audience tends to remember different superheroes by the specific costumes they wear to essentially save the world, and it’s become so signature of them that many of us forget they also have to wear civilians outfits when off-duty. Mena Suvari and Matthew Modine are set to star in the Lifetime original movie Sex & Lies in Sin City, based on the true story of the death of wealthy Las Vegas casino heir Ted Binion. The Hollywood Reporter stated the tentatively titled telefilm from Sony Pictures Television and the Konigsberg Co. is based on the book “Murder in Sin City” by Jeff German. Binion (Modine), the heir to the Binion Horseshoe Casino fortune, was found dead in his Vegas home in 1998 by his ex-stripper girlfriend Sandy Murphy (Suvari), ultimately leading to a scandalous trial involving Murphy and her con artist boyfriend....

A positive update has come in for National Treasure 3. After Nicolas Cage starred in the 2004 original, he returned for the 2007 sequel National Treasure: Book of Secrets. The franchise then went dormant for many years before recently getting resurrected in the form of the Disney+ series adaptation, National Treasure: Edge of History. While Cage isn’t involved with the series, it is set in the same universe as it features Harvey Keitel and Justin Bartha reprising their roles....
Netflix today revealed a trailer for its upcoming slate of shows that will feature as part of next month’s Geeked Week, and along with a host of quick cut images of Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy, and The Gray Man, fans of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman were given a first look at Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer in the upcoming series. Of course, until now, the character of Lucifer has become best known for being played by Tom Ellis in the eponymous series, and while that version was a very loose interpretation of Gaiman’s Sandman character, this time around, we are going to meet a whole new type of Lucifer....

It might be surprising to remember, but about 25 years ago, people started to hate Star Wars. Lost actress Emilie de Ravin has signed on for an arc in the new ABC fairy tale series Once Upon a Time. The actress will be reunited with series creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, who served as writers on Lost. Emilie de Ravin will portray Belle from Beauty and the Beast in the series, which takes place both in present day and in a mysterious land where all fairy tale creatures live....
