Writer Jeremy Slater has teased the role of fan-favorite character Johnny Cage in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2. However, the character may not be as heavily involved in the sequel as much as fans of the video game expect. It was announced back in January that CBS had gotten the cast of Murphy Brown back together for a 13-episode revival series and now Candice Bergen has shared the first photo of the reunited cast. Bergen revealed back in September of 2017 that she had been approached about getting the revival series idea and reprising her role as the title character, an investigative journalist and news anchor for the fictional TV newsmagazine FYI....

Musical composer Jeff Richmond has recently revealed a new development on the forthcoming musical film adaptation of Mean Girls. In Richmond’s interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he detailed how he’s working day-to-day with his wife, Tina Fey, to reinvent the musical for the big screen. The pair is teaming up to produce the film to give it a “fresher palette.” Before the film’s release, Mean Girls Musical is having a national tour and bringing the classic movie to life on the Pantages stage since the start of this month....

NBC has given series pickups for its 2010-11 season to the dramatic thriller The Event, the comedy Outsourced and the romantic anthology series Love Bites. The announcement was made today by Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios. “Each of these three series reflects a unique point of view and distinct style of quality that fits perfectly with NBC’s dedication to rebuilding the schedule,” said Bromstad. “These series showcase excellent writing and casting, and represent the kind of scripted programming our network and studio are committed to producing....

Netflix has dropped a behind-the-scenes featurette for Extraction 2 as part of its TUDUM Fan Event. Chris Hemsworth, whose fate was left to uncertainty in the 2020’s Extraction, is set to reprise his role as the protagonist, Tyler Rake in the sequel. Sam Hargrave also returns as director, with Joe Russo (Avengers: Endgame) penning the screenplay. Golshifteh Farahani also reprises her role from the first film and will be joined by Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili....

Iron Fist crashed through the walls of Comic-Con last weekend, dropping the first trailer for Season 2 while also showing off some exclusive footage to the crowd. By now, most fans of Orange Is the New Black are aware of the show’s impending demise. It has been five years since Paddington Bear last hit the big screen in the sequel to the 2014 hit reboot of the popular children’s franchise. There have been very few updates on Paddington 3 since then, but now the previous movie’s co-writer Simon Farnaby has shared some details about the new movie. With a number of studios touting straight-to-DVD brands, Paramount is throwing their hat in the ring too with Paramount Famous Productions. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the brand, which just launched over a year ago, has just announced its first titles coming to DVD, the first of which being Without a Paddle: Nature’s Calling, a sequel to the 2004 comedy Without a Paddle. Principal photography has just wrapped on the straight-to-DVD sequel and the studio aims to release the DVD in early 2009....

It was reported last year in September that NBCUniversal had cut a deal that would move Park and Recreation to Peacock exclusively in October 2020. The date is fast approaching and that means the series is departing every other service very soon. Netflix already has a message warning viewers that the show will only be available until October 1. So those who are looking to binge the show once more without commercial interruption who don’t have a premium subscription to Peacock may want to do so sooner rather than later....

Pixar’s Lightyear won’t be released in several Middle Eastern countries after backlash over a same-sex kiss. Per Variety, the scene in question involves a space ranger named Alisha Hawthorne, voiced by Uzo Udoba, who shares a kiss with her partner and talks about starting a family. Hawthorne is a new character who’ll be the commanding officer and best friend of Buzz Lightyear (Chris Evans). Apparently, Disney didn’t even bother submitting Lightyear to Saudi Arabian censors, knowing it would not be cleared....
