IDW Publishing has joined with Paramount Pictures, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, Kurtzman/Orci Productions and CBS Consumer Products to publish a four-issue limited comic book series tied to next summer’s new Star Trek movie, which will be released in theaters on May 8, 2009. The first comic in the series, “Star Trek: Countdown #1,” will be released in January 2009 to the comic book direct market. The story is presented by Abrams and plotted by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman....

The Wachowski Brothers seem to have half of their lead ninja cast set for their new movie. According to SciFi Wire, Collin Chou revealed in an interview with the site from the Wizard World convention in Los Angeles, that he will be one of the four ninja lead roles in Ninja Assassin, which will be produced (but not directed) by the Wachowski Brothers. “I don’t think I’m supposed to talk about it, but I am working with the Wachowski brothers next month, and I look forward to working with them again on a major movie,” Chou said....
Noel Fisher is most definitely an actor on the rise, as he keeps landing roles alongside Hollywood’s elite. After portraying the young Private Lenihan in Battle: Los Angeles last year, the Canadian actor landed a role as Vladimir in Summit’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, and portrayed Mickey Milkovich on the Showtime series Shameless, being elevated to series regular in Season 3. Some time ago, the Predator found itself at the center of a complex legal battle. Not the mandibled extraterrestrial hunter itself of course, but rather the franchise. Paramount is venturing into the world of drug addiction in a very unique way. According to Variety, the studio has acquired the memoirs Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction by David Sheff and Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines, by his son, Nick Sheff. Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company will also develop the project. Paramount and Plan B plan to combine both memoirs into one movie about a son’s addiction to meth and his father’s struggles in getting his son off of the drug....
Back in January, we reported that Paramount has set aside the October 19 release date for Paranormal Activity 4, continuing the franchise tradition of an October release. Today we have word that The River producer Zack Estrin has signed on to write the script for Paranormal Activity 4. No details were given regarding the story line for this sequel. Paranormal Activity 3 directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are expected to return for Paranormal Activity 4, although an insider said their deals aren’t set in stone quite yet....
